You should be reading Batman though.

I dropped it after the first Catwoman/Bane issue. I just found it boring and mediocre and that issue was the one I finally decided to cut it on. I can't justify buying a book twice a month even if I was excited about the writer in the beginning. I also wasn't as gaga over King's Vision as everyone else was so I'm wondering if maybe Grayson just hit my favor more because of the character and the subject. I've always liked the Batman supporting family more than Batman himself and that's probably why I love Detective Comics.

Yeah it's not as good as Grayson was, but what is?

The last few months of it have been fantastic but I can't blame anybody for skipping out during the Santa Prisca stuff. That's probably been the low point of the entire book so far.

Eh, JLA has just been mediocre for me. I loved the one-shots though. Just my personal tastes. It's on the chopping block if this introductory story-arc doesn't pick up and finish strong (for me). I just wish it had some Silver Age dudes like Firestorm, Dr. Fate, etc.

Agreed. The one-shots were really great, but the actual comic so far has been pretty boring. Very generic standard "evil dude shows up to conquer the world and the heroes gotta stop him" stuff. The interactions they have are solid (Lobo sticking up for Ryan Choi, while Batman doesn't think he's as good as Ray Palmer, for example) and there are good one-off moments, but the actual story behind it all isn't interesting.

I decided to drop it after today's issue. Maybe I'll go back to it later, but for now it isn't really worth it.

I thought Booster Gold/Flintstones was honestly pretty lame, and The Jetsons back up was awful.

Green Lantern/Space Ghost was really cool just for the art alone. I have no idea what the hell was even going on with Ruff and Reddy because I don't even remember those characters. I didn't buy the other two crossovers, but I'll probably get them when they get discounted on comixology.

Edit - Honestly pretty meh week for DC for me. Space Ghost/Green Lantern and Kamandi Challenge were the only things I particularly liked, and the annual issues for Titans and Batgirl are basically just teases for stories in books I'm already dropping anyway. Donna Troy still sucks.

I thought the art in Space Ghost was a bit of a bummer, cause while that dude is super talented (even as recently as a fill-in spot on Future Quest) a lot of the backgrounds and textures seemed to be barely manipulated photos of trees and grass.

Apparently there's been some extensive rumors beings posted about Dark Days on 4chan, and I'm finding this from a tumblr post, so take this with a grain of salt. And be wary, this does have possible spoilers.

https://hellyeahteensuperheroes.tumblr.com/post/158967027028/big-rumors

Some things feel like "No, duh" with stuff like JSA and Legion returning, Cyborg, Superwoman, and Blue Beetle being cancelled, and Tim breaking out of captivity, but then there's some real off the wall ones.

For instance, AU characters making their way to the Prime DC Earth such as Mar'i, Barbara becoming disabled again with Cassandra and Stephanie being trained as her successors, Slade going missing with Rose taking up the mantle of being Deathstroke (honestly, yes please).

I guess the rumored creative teams, new titles, etc. will be:

JSA by Dan Abnett
Speedster team featuring Bart, Jesse Quick, Max Mercury, and older Wally West by Brett Booth
Red Robin and the Outsiders by unknown
Cyborg being replaced with a team-up book with him and Shazam by John Semper
Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps becoming Green Lantern Corps
Yellow Lanterns by Cullen Bunn
Green Lanterns goes monthly
Superwoman cancelled
Red Hood and the Outlaws cancelled (yay)
Jason Todd solo series by Lobdell (ew)
Blue Beetle cancelled, but Jaime joins Teen Titans
Batgirl and Batgirl & the Birds of Prey both cancelled
Legion by James Tynion
Checkmate by Tom King
World's Finest by Tim Seeley, where every issue features a team-up between different Batfamily and Superfamily members
12 part mini-series about Crime Syndicate by Peter Thomasi
Batman Beyond starring Damian (why?)

I'd normally just dismiss these out of hand until confirmation, but some of it honestly sounds interesting enough that I hope it's real.

Reading here and you can probably guess what I don't like. Also gently caress Dan Abnet can we please just get James Robinson & David Goyer to write it again. Unfortunately Robinson is occupied growing the Cable franchise and Goyer is busy making that Hollywood money.

I like Shazam and I like Ted Kord. Cyborg and Jamie Reyes can go gently caress off together.

It's not like we get more King and Tomasi and Ellis when we trim Lobdell and Oliver. The more books they have the more chances to stumble into a perfect writer/artist/subject combination. You never know when they'll hand off a book to some young genius and they'll turn it around. Trimming only makes that less likely.

No kidding. I love Ariel Olivetti's art but I think the man is at his best when he's working on future-y stuff like Cable and Venom: Space Knight. His strange painted-over 3D collage backgrounds look best when they're portraying sterile, man-made environments and not as good when they're supposed to be natural environments.

That that continuation ignoring that the Nu52 even happened was such a clusterfrag to begin with (seriously, the one time we should have had a L* reboot ...) is part of the problem. Also that subsequent L* appearances toward the tail end of Nu52, in one of the JL series iirc, already flagrantly ignored some of the events of the end of the Nu52 L* run, thank god.

It's a mess is what I'm trying to say. More of a legit mess than the exaggerated "oh no it's the Legion" flailing has ever been over the years. Blah.
