Rocko's Modern Life is getting revived as a one-hour movie, and Joe Murray will be involved with it. I'm hopeful but a little bit skeptical.

It can't possibly be more pointless than the Hey Arnold movie, which is giving an ending that was already spoiled a decade ago to a show with no real serialized plot at all. If anything Arnold tracking down his parents actively works against the original show since a big part of it was portraying poor inner-city people with irregular families and living situations in a normal if not positive light. kefkafloyd posted:It'll be an hourlong still shot of a jar of mayonnaise. I would have any faith in the project if it was running on [as] or even Cartoon Network proper or anyone or anything besides the tire fire that is Nickelodeon.

Steven Universe Artist Quits Twitter Over Fan Harassment. So after this and that time SU fans made a girl attempt suicide because she drew fake nonreal lesbians wrong or whatever the gently caress, I'm fairly certain that SU is now officially The Worst Fandom. It was a hard-fought victory over bronies, but here we are. This also reinforces my supposition that a significant minority/slim majority of "SU fans" don't give a flying gently caress about representation in media over boner justification, since apparently a gay woman can't pair up fake nonreal lesbians in certain ways because it's "queerbaiting", whatever the gently caress that even means when you draw two fake nonreal cartoon characters in a relationship. The correct answer to that statement is Tumblr is an awful place full of spam, nonsense and porn that pops up even in innocent searches. The sooner Verizon burns it to the ground with their lovely ads the better.

It seems like nerds have always had a destructive sense of ownership over the things they love--like, there have always been comic book people who respond to Spider-Man getting extra arms by writing thousands of words expressing their dissatisfaction and then explaining what the writer should have done instead. But jesus christ what the gently caress is wrong with these kids? Will they ever look back on this and feel guilty for being such little shits? You see obsessive freaks like this with pretty much anything with a fanbase, for example as bad as Steven Universe is I still don't think it's got anything on the trashier parts of sports fandom. It's more concentrated in cases like this when the people involved have a larger internet presence and the fanbase is mostly shut ins whose only outlet is the internet, though.

They're thirsty for a hit movie franchise and yet manage to gently caress up everything they touch (see TMNT2 flopping and even Star Trek underperforming). These are a way for them to build up a groundswell of support so maybe they'll get some folks interested in the "Avengers-style Nicktoons live action/CG film" they've got in the works. I did not make that up. Well, 90s Nickelodeon nostalgia seems like a pretty safe thing to bet on. The resurrection of that Hey Arnold jungle movie (which I still think is a really stupid premise for a movie of a show predominately about growing up around quirky city people), and I'm still seeing some uproar about Rocko in my Twitter and Facebook feeds.

Maybe you're just not aware but famous people have been receiving harsh criticism and scary things in the mail since well before the internet made it all public. It's really just looking at the past with rose colored glasses, people have always been crazy. I'd probably argue that it's safer now since she can just not use twitter and avoid the harassment, whereas before she would have to have people handle her mail. When was the last time someone famous was hurt or killed by a stalker? I feel like it used to happen a lot more often in the past, I don't hear about it very often now. I'm just saying the internet hasn't done anything but give a public platform to assholes, in the past they used to just be more direct and private about it. There were also things like Hal's Emerald Attack Team, where DC fans were so up in arms over the replacement of Hal Jordan with Kyle Rayner that they did things like take out ads. So long as fandoms exist, they're prone to this sort of garbage, and technology has only made the buildup of fandoms more possible so incidents like this will happen more and more. Of course, to put things in perspective with the 90s, somebody getting frustrated with internet yahoos and deleting their twitter is the sort of incident that probably nobody will remember in a decade. God knows the people who harassed her probably didn't remember what they did a minute after they did it.

Whatever is the most popular thing right now always has The Worst Fandom because crazy people are drawn to popular things. Besides, if you ignore the crazies the SU fandom is actually not that bad. Especially compared to something like the Sonic the Hedgehog community. Edit: And if you look at just the cool people SU also has the best fandom by far since fun/creative people also like popular things. readingatwork fucked around with this message at 16:58 on Aug 16, 2016 |

It was also in development since 2012 i wanna say, for sure it was shown somewhat before XY came out and then remained silent until it came out. It was probably a bumpy development and I really think that its episodic release was more like an attempt at cutting losses by releasing what was ready and then seeing if it'd be worth making it a full-length game. Either way the idea is pretty great for a western movie make it for kids, get Danny Devito in a yellow unitard screaming to blank spaces that people assure him will be filled with CGi Pokemon, sounds nice.
