BTW if someone is one of the newer players, the USS Sally Ride admiralty card is still claimable. All you need to do is fly to Narendra system in the Beta quadrant, and fly around until you get on the galaxy map action "Contact USS Sally Ride".

https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/U.S.S._Sally_Ride

It is a very decent science vessel card for someone, who like me only has like 3-4 T6:s in addition of the normal unlocks from the Phoenix boxes.

Are there any guides on how to use mines? Seems like they come up in the torpedo boat builds and generally would like to try them out, but not sure they work w/ my tiny little "point ship at ship, fire" mentality.

Not the answer you're looking for but it's the truth about using mines: Don't.

Various problems aside they also suffer from the simple problem that delivery to target won't happen without you ruining all your other firing arcs. If you want to see this for yourself grab a free blue / green from some mission reward, slot a skill, and try using them while also using all your other skills / weapons without any loss firing time / time on target from existing weapons.

Just drive close to your target and the mines will auto lock on. As well if there's something really big, use the relocate mine skill which teleports them all conveniently into lock on distance. And by close I mean 1-2 KM close. But mines are an important part of a kinetic build nowadays. You want the competitive rep one and then thoron infused mines from delta rep store.

Found this nice little revamp of the Excelsior looking around google image search (all seem to lead back to Pinterist so no idea where it really comes from), wish there was a more 2410 skin for the Excelsior that wasn't the Resolute :-/

I like the old one better for the actual explosion at the end. The new one feels less realistic and more like a World of Warcraft spell effect; the ship is literally incinerated. I like the new one better during the phases of accumulating damage, though it'd be better with a toned-down version of the old version's electrical arcs. The old one has the accumulated damage effects noticeably disappear for a second while the next level of damage is loading.

:smith: I know...them doing that to Lower Decks stuff when it should be c-store is atrocious.

Even worse will be when they do that to the Vulcan ship, and I REALLY want that drat Vulcan ship.

If they polish it up and fix some of the proportions, like the neck being a bit too long, then I'd probably spend a billion C on it. IDK. I'm pretty pathetic. I'm comfortable w that.

They showed off the T6 Nova and Sabre and overall they seemed pretty solid? Not fleet quality sadly, but the Nova in particular is the Jellyfish just without the MW seat (that wasn't much use anyway). Sabre has an interesting trait that's competitive engines and a buff for beam weapons by potentially 50% but I'm not sure what the scaling factor is.

The Nova looks really nice, and the Sabre at least a real T-6 update to get me to stop using my T-5u Saber or T-6 Prometheus.

I don't love the flight speed/turn rate bonus just because those kick in so quickly it's like riding a dang bull

I suspect there's just flat out better console options than the Troyius Console. The weapon power cost reduction seems interesting maybe, and a nice survival button tho.

Damnit every time they do something like this I'm like "I don't actually want to buy the ship but I want to have it so I can play with the parts for a bit and see how cool I can make it"

drat them for disabling z-store things on tribble.

It looks like we're getting the Eisenberg class for the winter event. Console that strips hull from enemies, then gives it to any nearby player vessels as temporary hp. Trait turns a portion of incoming energy damage into shield restoration, triggered by activating specialist boff abilities.

They're also working on a 32c united earth defense vessel, presumably another lockbox or promo ship. Trait and console are all about buffing/restoring shields, so probably useless as long as the borg exist.

The final meta-event event will be daily remain klingon/to hell with honor/best served cold. Reward is a console that does electrical damage to an enemy while shutting down their subsytems.

To Hell With Honor can be mostly afked. Fly in to the first shipyard, blow up at least one docked ship, let yourself explode, and don't respawn. Then wait 10-15 minutes.

Trying to decide if I'd take this or the potential fleet version. I'm trading the lvl 5 trait for a vulnerability locator console basically, right? Choosing between another 2% crit chance vs. speed/turn boosts all the time. I think I'd take the crit.

edit- I'm going to do a beam build for this ship, but fleet version seems 100% the choice if I was doing a cannon build

You know you can have both, right? Buy the ship, unlock the trait, then use a single fleet module to get the fleet version. And reportedly the 2-ship bundle will come with 2 fleet modules, so you won't even need to go looking for a module.

I could, but I could also slot some other starship trait as well. Not sure what my 6th best trait is right now, so I'd have to think on it.

e- ok I think Preparedness is my least valuable current starship trait that I use with my fleet Prometheus. I think this is better than Preparedness at least...

Again, depending on the fact that it could be variable and not 50% every time, the fact that it lasts 10 seconds is pretty bad. I don't know if ETM will activate it, and for BO it's pretty useless, though BO already has plenty of good traits.

Seems since it’s activated by beam weapon abilities I’m guessing it’s a 10%-30%-50% bonus based on whether you activate fire at will/beam overload at levels 1/2/3

holy poo poo that sounds like one useless console and absolutely no motivation for people to even do this event who have already finished their campaign

Best Served Cold can also be semi-AFKd by blowing up the initial klingon ships then flying to one of the edges of the map and sitting there

I've always loved the Saber and Gladius, so I'm going to end up getting it regardless, but neither the console, experimental weapon, or trait really excite me. But I guess a miracle worker escort and pretty good BO layout (in my opinion) is also nice.
