This is why most proper machine guns have switchable barrels, and maxim and vickers gun had those stupid looking watercooled wrap-arounds. EDIT: also why caseless ammunition for assault rifles and such still isn't a thing, the gun overheats even faster when it cannot dump the hot casings out. My cousin had a German Shepherd/Corgi cross that was ridiculously adorable. The corgi/husky is also adorable. I think it's because corgis have canine dwarfism.

bike tory posted:jesus that mustve cost a loving arm and a leg, I know that ammo isn't cheap Yeah when the barrel split and started fragmenting into molten shrapnel, I was really worried those guys would get pelted by hot sharp exploding barrel. I guess you have all of the kinetic energy of the bullet and gas pushing debris away from the shooter, but I feel like you could imagine a barrel deformation scenario that would end catastrophically (an Elmer Fudd scenario to use the technical term).

I recall seeing something from Kalashnikov Russia where they had a guy fire hundreds of rounds out of various guns and he was wearing a great deal of body armour and an armoured visor - seems surprising that the Russian destruction test video would be the safe one!

Coming home from the pub one night many years ago, I met a sweet pup sitting outside waiting for his person. He was clearly a corgi/labrador mix so he just looked like a labrador with basically no legs. He was such a sweetheart but I absolutely could not stop laughing at him. I'm sorry stumpy lil'guy, but you looked so silly.
