I went to the 2nd game at Turner, the one that had like 3 rain delays and then got shut down due to the curfew and had to resume the following day. Sucks I can't make it this weekend but I would have to cross through carmageddon to get there, anyway.
I was at the last in Fulton County Stadium, game 5 of the '96 series. We only had tickets to that one and drove up after they took two in New York hoping they wouldn't sweep the Yankees before we got to see them.

They did not sweep it.

where are Kaufmann/Arrowhead/that new arena then?

Kauffman/Arrowhead are out in the suburbs where they always were, surrounded by a giant parking lot. The Sprint Center is downtown with it's own little district around it which is kinda cool, but I'd imagine it would be a lot more cool with an actual NBA/NHL team there--which will never happen now.

Really, if you can bring something to the table for a job that's posted, just apply. I didn't have any inside connections, just a solid finance/analytics skillset that matched closely enough to a job posting. I recognize how lucky I am to have gotten in, though.

On this date in 1954, the Orioles won their first game ever, a 3-2 victory at Detroit. The ornithologically correct hat is still my favorite. I think the guy first row far left is Don Larsen. Of course, two years later he pitched a perfect WS game for some other team.

Playoffs are no big deal,
don't have a crap attack.
Watching the Blue Jays is hilarious right now. Their best hitter, Donaldson, is on the DL. The only other batter with an OPS+ of 100 is Morales, with only Smoak (what the heck?) coming close with a 99. It's hard to imagine a season where Bautista, Martin, Travis, and Pearce continue having the seasons they're having. However, I can also see the worst case scenario happening for this team, as they have a bunch of aging sluggers (Bautista, Tulo, Martin) mixed with guys who suck (Pillar, Carrera), and they could all collectively suck together.

Still laughing.

Based on the slump Martin has had since the playoffs and his collective career stats,I could see him finishing this year with a sub 225 batting average and sucking offensively for the rest of his contact.

No team has ever started 1-9 and gone on to make the playoffs. Time to rebuild.

I'm gonna laugh when the scrap heap pitcher we got from Philly throws 6 innings of 1-hit ball. Not because he deserves it or because I wish ill will on the Jays, but because the alternative is a bitter sadness about our rivals.

Game was weird. Jays' first run shouldn't have happened but because of O's miscommunication they didn't double up. O's run, guy shouldn't have made it to first base but it bounced off Osuna's foot. Only the Morales dinger was a straight up no shenanigans run.

Whatever, I'll take it. 2 and 9. Climbin' that ladder!!!

I'd be willing to let Bruce go, but if he's going to another NL contender the price would have to be astronomical.

I'm not really criticizing the results. Just saying his swing itself, mechanically, looks like he's using a lot of muscle and over the course if a season may result in less contact. Big power guys are fun when they're on, but when he starts striking out constantly he'll get boring. I hope I'm wrong, but the post Fielder Brewers 1b situation has been lots of all power no discipline guys.
