My poor kid friend when I was young, they let their dog poop in the basement instead of taking it outside. It would bark, they'd open the basement door and it'd run down there and take a poo poo. So when we went down in the basement to play with the train set, there were a couple months of dog turds on the floor. Like someone spilled a barrel of milk duds. There were pathways going to the washer and dryer and to the room where the train set was. Also the train room had early 90's porno magazine centerfolds hung up all over the walls.

Personal butler robot can only travel in 5 dimensions, not 6. The floor changes color based on your body temperature but you recognize all of the colors, they haven't upgraded to the "next level" color set yet. The living human beings who hold up the second floor are slightly out of shape with visible body hair or acne. Their garden only produces 3 or 4 formerly extinct fruit or vegetables, and they limit how many of them you can eat anyway.

Mix of own experience and observed ones: Wearing exclusively clothes bought in thrift stores/second-hand No-name brand shoes bought on a market Buying stale bread and "refreshing" it over stove. Kaiser buns are reserved for Dad and picky-eater sibling Buying food in bulk packages Chips and Coca-cola only on birthdays Rare electronic devices manufactured by mysterious companies like Watson, Manta or PanaSony Only the smallest Lego sets Cotton swabs are cut in half Books are pocket sized, trash paper editions or just Harlequins/SAS/nordic sagas TV is always on Obsessed with Jew-masonry and political mafia Horse racing memorabilia Cupboard filled with glass ornaments and pictures of the Pope Plastic, glow-in-the-dark crucifixes Mustard and Nutella glasses Actually, only with time I started appreciating how, despite relatively low income and plenty of difficult life arrangements, my parents were somehow keeping us from utter trashyness and plain old hunger. Still remember when I changed primary school to an upper-class one (due to mentioned life arrangements), and nearly every kid had a cell phone, brand new Adidas/Nike/FuBu clothes and Gameboy or Discman, and I was wearing old, sometimes misgendered clothes.
