Jedi Outcast campaign has a pretty slow and clunky start with a kind of poor man’s Half-Life feel but eventually gets better as you power up. There’s some escort NPCs bullshit. Puzzle level where you get your lightsaber back. Nar Shaddaa aka pitch black death pit with snipers. Very fun level where you launch yourself up a series of tubes to get to the site of the duel in Empire Strikes Back. Big block of imperial base levels with a couple of really weird mind trick puzzles. Another big block of imperial ship levels where you can launch stormtroopers into space and there’s a janky zero g segment. Then you land in a swamp and fight 1 million dark jedi and spam strong jumping attack on the final boss while invincible. It took me a long rear end time to beat Jedi Outcast as a teenager. It’s a fairly hard game with many weird/bad puzzles that will stop a play through in its tracks and a number of surprise game overs.

I wish there was a spiritual successor to Jedi Knight that had nothing to do with Star Wars. Just big levels, lots of movement abilities, and a hybrid of third person melee and first person shooting combat. I even thought about getting into hobby gamedev to do such a thing. The Shadow Warrior reboots get part of the way there, but it's still lacking the "big" types of movement abilities, like force jump etc. Also Shadow Warrior is more about monster closets, as opposed to the exploration aspect of Jedi Knight. I do still really enjoy the Shadow Warrior reboots though. Also I was on team "it's not a porn game", and still don't think it's necessarily a porn game, but then I checked out the dev's twitter and it's just pure yikeseroni. So even if it's not technically a porn game, it's a naw from me.

I think Turok 3 rips and I don't care who knows! It's fun, the cutscenes are impressive, the level design is good, and I appreciate the devs trying something new with the presentation/general design of the game instead of just trying to copy what they had done twice before. To be perfectly honest I'd play T3 over T2 any day. T2's absurd, longwinded levels are a total chore to get through. Great guns and music tho. But yes, if Turok 3 just had a stable frame rate it would be great. I really really hope Nightdive is working on the PC port, but it's been so long since T2 I doubt it.

They just did a big crossplay update for 2 and one of the Nightdive dudes hinted at something in this very thread.

turok one whips rear end for having and i mean this with all my heart and my drunk heart the best loving missile/rocket launcher in any game amazing sound dope reload animation and 4!! ROCKETS AT ONCE also they are kinda like the drunk missiles from ROTT so even better and yes the Drunk Launcher from ROTT is second best rocket launcher in any game its that gross THURNK it makes when u shoot it

Recently played this indie one man dev FPS Adaca: Here's a somewhat outdated trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfSGOFmY2LU https://siris-pendrake.itch.io/adaca It's pretty cool. Wears its inspirations on its sleeve, definitely a mix of Half-Life 2 and Halo CE. There's a two weapon limit, but partially regenerating health (if you get hit that section goes into the red, if you don't take any more damage for a few seconds it recharges that chunk) with health stations like Marathon to patch you up. You have guns in one hand and what is basically the gravity gun on the other, but you can use both at the same time. It's still in active development, so the current game is about 45 min to an hour long. It's a really fun time. There is, however, one section that sucked so bad that the developer intends to change it in the next update. Also, the protagonist is nonbinary which is totally great.

 Sock has released a new map for arcane dimensions 1.8! It's a test map showcasing what a mapper can do with AD's chaos mode (monster randomiser). Despite the blockout textures and unassuming title, the gameplay loop is really well thought out and the layout is impeccable.
