Isn't the combination of OLED and console gaming still a problem due to burn-in?
It's not as bad as it was in the infancy of OLEDs, but from what I gather it's still something to be considered?

I am currently checking out TVs as well and while it's mostly marketing bullshit, Samsung's QLED (which is still LCD with a fancier name to sound "better" than OLED) looks very nice. Both the 65" 8DN or 9FN models are currently on my shortlist. But maybe I should take this to the TV thread in IyG.

Modern OLEDs should not have any problem with permanent burn-in unless you literally have the same static image on the screen for hours everyday (so still not suitable as a PC monitor). Any image retention that does happen should be barely noticeable and usually go away after a few minutes.

Also modern games are a lot better about their HUDs with most elements being even very slightly transparent so there is enough shift in colour to not cause an issue.

It used to be that OLEDs couldn't get anywhere near as bright as LED TVs but again modern sets are much better at this too.

If you can afford the $$$$ go for an OLED, I didn't because it was twice the cost of a normal set but if money were no object...

Games generally don't burn-in on my OLED. Something like the big red NETFLIX logo is probably the biggest culprit but it still goes away after like 15 seconds. And my model is like two years old, it's probably gotten better. I definitely wouldn't want to go back after getting one.

Sure, but of all the things to need to tweak in a post-launch patch, the textures should be pretty low on that list for a game built on an existing engine with existing assets and oh I forgot the Bethesda factor :cripes:.

I played BioShock 2 for the first time this year and didn't hate it but didn't feel compelled to finish it. Have to say though the plot and writing stunk of being quickly rushed out to capitalise on the prequels success.

The second part of Marvel's Spider-Man's DLC will be coming out sometime tomorrow. However, we have a look at the costumes this time around and well...

But but but if the damage he took was enough to break his bones it should be enough to break any armor he might have been wearing too!

Also armor protects from bladed weapons, not blunt trauma. Hmph.

I'm delighted to watch this game get poo poo on cause I was particularly grossed out when it was announced at e3 this year and there was a huge push by Bethesda to preorder it as a time when iirc literally all they announced about it was its name. I can't remember if they had even talked about it being MP only before the preorder campaign.

Have to respectfully disagree. B1 totally falls down in the final act. I played them both recently and found the second one far far better in every aspect. I'd originally thought it wasn't great and I don't think I ever finished it on PS3 but picking it up with the HD collection, I think it's better.
