It has no bearing whatsoever on cybernetics. Is it just computer programmers who have to contend with popular culture utterly mangling their profession, or do other professions also get to laugh at hopelessly wrong manglings of their field of expertise?

The only skills that are not susceptible to constant bastardization in media are the skills related to the creation of that media.
