cant recommend the max payne 3 cutscene skip mod enough. it turns the game into a time crisis arcade game thing you can blow through in 2.5 hours

One thing I appreciate about MP2 is that Max isn't as liable to get OHKOed by a shotgun from the other side of the room. But yeah, the escort missions are unforgivable.

Yeah Max Payne 2 has that annoying escort section buuuut I dig the Twin Peaks parody TV show, the ragdolling and leaning more into noir than the first game. Voice acting too, James McCaffrey sounds monotone and bored during Max Payne 1, but in 2 and 3 he sounds broken and fits the hardboiled detective edge better. Funnily enough, I feel Max Payne 3 has the best difficulty out of all of the games, the first game gets stupidly hard towards the end and often unfairly so while outside of the escort mission Max Payne 2 is really easy.

This is the problem with adaptive difficulty. If you quickload all your deaths, the game just thinks you're unstoppable and ramps the difficulty up throughout

For somebody whose first bedroom PC (that I could call my OWN) was kind of a piece of poo poo that still had a turbo button and trouble running certain games, I was completely blown away by how well Max Payne 2 ran and looked on my PC. It will always have a spot in my heart. Really didn’t like the aesthetics of that reload animation though.
