I can't judge the hairy shambler adherents because I thought imps were hairy. Was confused when I read the DOOM novels since it describes their skin as reptilian.

AE got refunded due to proton issues, shame.

the shambler is covered in pallid, decaying flesh almost all the quake monsters are based on monsters from sandy peterson's call of cthulhu monsters guide  that's the spawn on the cover here's the shambler from that book, a little more beige and with eyes than the in-game shambler, but clearly the inspiration  here's the official action figure which came out in the 90s  i rest my case

I don't know if it is a good thing or not (most likely good) but it's been so long since I've been waiting for a AAA fps release, meanwhile there are a bunch of indie retro shooters that I'm loving hyped with like Selaco, Fallen Aces, HROT, Prodeus and Wrath. Dusk, Amid Evil, Project Warlock, Post Void, Hedon... are some of the wave that are killing it. I love this "boomer shooter" trend.

It has tons of unique textures and stuff, and the levels are big meshes iirc, which means it's not well optimized for disk space. Also I believe the sound was huge originally (and took ages to load) but i think they fixed that a while back.

Cultic is really cool. Love the interactivity in the environments. However, the lack of weapon switch buttons is bizarre. I do not like the weapon wheel, especially since it keeps the mouse inversion (and my brain likes inversion in game but not for cursor interaction).
