This is the image for sulfur crested cockatoos on wikipedia, which I think sums up their behavior perfectly: I wish we got them on the west coast, instead we get corellas who are assholes.

I know there are a few shopping centres around where they have to fix signage most years because of damage by corellas.

I never realized wild cockatoos are so fearless, but I guess when you're on a continent without many predators and you have an impressive beak...

I feel like the only reason why cockatiels aren't the same level of rear end in a top hat is that only the derp part of the cockatoo brain survived the shrinking process intact and only vestigial remains of trollbird remain.

We live on the east coast, and had a large flock of rare black cockatoos that lived in this huge dead tree just behind the house where we lived for a time. I used to get into screaming contests with them. I used to find baby birds all the time, usually rainbow lorikeets (which are objectively the best bird), and once convinced a young crow to walk halfway home after me from the bus, at which point I got bored of gentle encouragements and just grabbed him. He was displeased, but enjoyed the mince dinner I had. Been thinking recently about getting some form of bird, be it chickens or a more traditional bird, but not sure I can commit to the interactivity, though I know I'd enjoy it.

My suburb has thousands of rainbow lorikeets in it, along with a poo poo load of corellas and a lone solitary green Indian ring neck. Its a very noisy place to live.

I have determined that cockatoos make the worst begging sounds in the animal kingdom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcqlveexTLA aaaaaaaaaaaaa. aaaaaaaaaa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6UGjqIvPMY waaaaAAAHHHaaaHHHaaa As cool as parrots are, I wouldn't want them as neighbors. Especially with their ever-hungry fledglings. Good thing that adult pet parrots don't make these cries when they want something from you!

Its a bad idea because I already have a male Qauker and I like him being friends with me and not trying to impress a lady bird. Also cost and time getting it to realise that her old humans not coming back and shes gotta be friends with me now. I'm not 100% sure i can do that, I've seen what Quakers do to people they are used too but don't handle them much, let alone a complete stranger.
