I barely remember my first real Type 2 deck, but I know it had 4x Spiritmonger and 4x Pernicious Deed in it. I also recall having a lot of fun playing it.

I only started playing during Shadows over Innistrad so my memory of a card I thought was great was Diregraf Colossus. I opened it in my first draft (also my first time playing magic) and thought it was going to be a huge bomb.

mehall posted:Wolfgang Elder took a Goblin Bidding list to the quarter finals of Worlds in 2003. Man, this was such a fun deck. I think my favorite of all time is still Blue Skies, although IIRC it never really got above being a 2nd or 3rd tier deck at the time of MM/Invasion standard. 4 Spiketail Hatchling 4 Chimeric Idol 4 Rishadan Airship 4 Troublesome Spirit 4 Thwart 4 Foil 4 Opt 4 Gush 4 Wash Out 21 Island 3 Sky Diamond The sideboard was stuff like Submerge, Withdraw, Rishadan Ports or Dust Bowls, Rising Waters, and Misdirection.

Kodama of the north tree was tested at 6/6 but they toned it down to craw wurm stats because not much in that standard could kill it in combat or out.

Oh man. I originally started back when every store had more lovely Fallen Empires packs than they knew what to do with, and I made so many terrible decks based around trying to get Ebon Praetor and Breeding Pit online. Breeding Pit had cool art too:
