Maybe that's what happened to Rory today at the Players (shot 79).

And Kevin Na just carded a snowman on 17.

And for symmetry, Na hit three in the water and now An has hit three in the water.

Dechambeau shares one thing with tiger...amazing luck on bad shots. He's had good looks and lies after two tee shits that could/should have left him blocked out.

I'm not sure I've ever seen balls bounce that hard on the green at 17, nothing was sticking yesterday.

It was downwind and went through the fairway which means it rolled down the hill. I did smash it but normally it’ll land in the fairway there.

I would've somehow four-putted most likely.

searched and found out there's both a driving range and also a 9-hole par three course within a 15 minute walk from where I'll be moving soon. for being in this crazy metro area, that's not bad at all. gonna have to sort out getting the clubs over here, then go get one of the little two-club carry cases I see a lot on the train that people use to take a club or two to the range.

Where you gonna be?

I gotta say, Fridays I hit a local 9 hole course with a heated driving range, and it's nice to just not care about the round, and practice shot shaping and such.

Kawasaki, Japan -- a wicked slice might be able to get across the Tama River or bounce on a bridge into Tokyo proper.

My golf in Japan was . . . interesting. Their design philosophy of lots of shaped fairways and surrounds for greens to bring the ball back to the middle is nice on their more "player friendly" courses. Never got to play any of the competitive courses.

That little island he just missed is in play, right? I remember seeing a video discussing what would happen if a player hit a shot there at one point. I would have loved to see them have to find a little rowboat to ferry him over there.

Went to TopGolf for my buddy’s birthday tonight. There were four us, we all golf, gently caress TopGolf.

Absurdly expensive for what it is, and it’s not really that much fun. I’d rather take a cooler to the driving range and shoot the poo poo with my buds.

I totally get why people who don’t golf go there, it’s the same reason I go bowling once every three years, and I could see it as a fun date but it offers nothing fun for people who actively golf.

The problem we’re having is that pretty much every standalone driving range in North Houston has shut down outside of Top Golf. You can obviously go to a course and use their range but gone are the days of getting a bucket of beers at Roy McAvoy’s west Texas practice facility and just hanging out.

I wonder about folks who take their clubs to hit those balls. What meaningful info are they getting?

I get little benefit from one of the largest ranges I have access to because they have the worst balls. Bad to start with, mostly very old. I mean, I can see a slice or a hook, but I wince when they come off the driver face. The nice courses have much nicer range balls, and even though not urethane for obvious reasons, they're replaced at least yearly.

It’s not a driving range. It’s a game. Their clubs suck. It’s more fun using your own clubs. It helps you beat your friends.
