There was a pretty good amount of talk here and in other DSA circles about something passing at the convention to support the abolition of the police. While it seems impossible to find what decisions were actually made at the convention (lol), I am having a hard time finding anything about the DSA adopting an approach in favor of police abolition. I see there was a resolution for prison abolition, but nothing related to the police. The closest thing I can find is a post of Medium by Praxis talking about it as part of their slate, but details were sparse - https://medium.com/@DSA_Praxis/abolish-police-and-prisons-fa263c44b3cb Does anyone have any further info on this? I have talked to a non-zero amount of people who were interested in DSA but thought "abolish the police" was a bit out there. I have tried to explain it as more of a "abolish the police and form a different type of people protector thingy" rather than just abolishing all types of law enforcement, but it would really be nice to hear what DSA's actual position is, if we have one.

From Marx up through the mid 20th century, Marxist theorists were usually leaders of trade unions and mass parties, so they had to speak accessibly to get anything done. Post-60s though it's mostly academics, who have completely different incentives.
