Huh, that definitely wasn't my experience. I did see a few of the people complaining about NWS links before I checked out and that was pretty dumb, but I read the thread to see weird poo poo like the crystal therapy guy, that person who was obsessed with sitting on the floor in the back seat of the car, and that person who did nothing but make montages of badly MS-Painted cartoon characters standing in front of corporate headquarters. Looking back on it now that stuff was all fairly work-safe to view, so yeah I guess the the thread did make a sharp NWS turn, but I'm just too jaded because I didn't find all the fetish stuff being posted there gross or offensive, just boring. Like didn't we all get over the blueberry inflation people and multi-boobed cow people like a decade ago? They're a dime a dozen on the internet nowadays, if you're going to go hunting find the really rare stuff.

Kinda the problem with those mock threads is eventually they start running out of easy targets, so either they start going for really niche and egregious content or just finding new reasons to mock things and touching the poop. At worst, going all Helldump.

Anime was never banned, it was posting hentai in ADTRW that was banned. The old forums were openly horny, and people try to sweep that under the rug.

People got weirded out by the deviantart thread because it changed from “hahaha these people are so weird, laugh at them” to “this art is weird, but we have a bunch of people in this thread who produce art like this for money and have unique perspectives on the fandom and fetishes, lets all learn some fascinating things about fandom and sexuality and psychology” and the people who just wanted to mock and laugh at strangers got miffed that the thread wasn’t just that anymore Also the idiocy of clicking on a nws link and being upset that it was porn, and therefore deciding to report it, like wtf We got some dunks in on one of the dudes who was complaining the loudest but he had, earlier in the thread, admitted a big rear end milf Grinch someone posted made him horny Also he was intensely angry about the fact that I’m pretty open about being a furry and he would not stop going on about it lmao Hedrigall has a new favorite as of 13:20 on Jan 24, 2021 |

People still now do it -- they'll spend aaaages every week on an internet forum, trolling people for being nerds or losers, and apparently never once consider the irony some things never change
