Ohhhh, I should've figured that. I put it on the third eyebrow account, its called Ceep Creepin. Its got another rapper from Montana on it name of JJ Jones. I hope you dig it cause I'd really like to put it on this EP I'm putting out tomorrow. But I guess that's a conversation we can have through email or soundcloud or w/e. Let's see if you even like the song first.

I thought I'd try to make a beat without quantizing everything. It turned out better than I thought it would for sure. I went for a kind of chill vibe and tapped out a boom bap drum pattern. I've recently watched a bunch of videos by Boonie Mayfield on YouTube so that partly inspired it.

How I made it:
Chopped sample, pitched it up, maximus on dem layered drums and automated sidechaining.

Okay so I recorded this song quite a bit ago and you guys have given me the best constructive criticism so tell me the pros and cons of my bars.

https://soundcloud.com/billy-bass-hip-hop-101/nameless-remix-prod-trent

My friend produced and mixed the song, overall I'm pretty happy with that part. However, every time I listen to myself rap I feel (both on this song and The mixtape me and my friends released earlier this year) like it's really good but there's just... something missing that keeps me from being on par with a lot of the good rappers. Like my delivery needs to be tweaked or something. Do any of you other guys feel that way about your work too? Maybe being constantly unsatisfied can push me farther, I don't know.

No one gives a fuck about shit.
So fuck your shit.
We fuck shit up,
Cause shit's fucked anyway.
Shit is run in to the ground.

I don't wanna think about it,
I just wanna get down.
Is this the right place for me to post a track for criticism on the rapping, not the production?

My recording/production value are awful (my 'studio' is a room with no soundproofing, a cellphone, and a boombox, and then no post):
https://soundcloud.com/illosophy/rhyme-trav-road-to-recovery

I've only been doing this a few months and I'm sick of all of the positive reactions I'm getting from friends/fam - I'm extremely critical of my poo poo and I need someone to give me pointers or tell me what's not working.

My main struggle seems to be breath control after 10 years of heavy smoking (particularly around 00:55, 01:30, 02:00). There are some other tracks on my soundcloud account if you want to check them out - I'm not too proud of them but I don't know how much of that is me hating it all because I've listened to it too much and I'm extremely critical of my own work as well. I don't know how clear the lyrics are because I of course know exactly what I'm saying. My second biggest struggle would be the fact that I can't hold a tone and hate my voice but the last time I sang anything before starting this up earlier this year was 10+ years ago.

My beats are all stolenborrowed from Bandcamp but I would totally rap over some goon jams if y'all are ok with it :shobon: This beat in particular is from a cool local guy. It's track 2 on this tape if you want to hear it in all its full hifi glory.

Yeah, I feel the same way and I don't think there's any escape, the same seems to be true of most artists regardless of medium. Your track and delivery sound infinitely more professional and practiced to me than mine.

Because I've been so engrossed in this for the past ~5 months I've inherited a huge amount of respect for garage rappers and I'm really digging the lyrical content in your track. I can relate to a lot of it even though there's a decade between us and I think that's cool. I can hear what sounds to me like influences of Prolyphic and Kid Cudi, am I on the mark on either count?

I'm sorry that I don't really have any specific criticism to give right now but to me it sounds like you're doing things right and will perfect your style with practice. Seems to me like a lot of rapping is just getting comfortable on the mic and you sound maybe a little nervous (just like I do in every recording :argh: )

First time posting here. Not much to say except I never planned on showing people these based on advice given in a How to Rap thread here. https://soundcloud.com/tyleromusic/50-songs-the-world-wont-hear-5/s-fGmtH?in=tyleromusic/sets/50-songs-the-world-wont-hear/s-fGmtH
only 5 songs so far, like 6 tracks technically but i counted 2 unfinished songs as 1. my latest one i need to re-record with my mic and take out the laptop-mic track and clean it up, it might be hard to hear the lyrics on some speakers or in general unless you try really hard!!

Any feedback? I'm looking for more musical connections and such.
