Cougars aren’t stupid. If they attack something the size of an adult human without the element of surprise, there’s a good chance they’ll be seriously injured. What it wasn’t counting on was being totally trapped in that hole. Platystemon fucked around with this message at 11:02 on May 10, 2024 |

Cougars are stupid, because there's not a chance in hell I could do any damage even if I had prep time. Idiot's missing out on a free meal, the only risk is if they eat too fast and choke on a lumpy bit.

haveblue posted:What is that test supposed to determine exactly? In all seriousness, part of the point of the super expensive tests like this is to show that your Finite Element Model is plausibly accurate to reality. If you can show reasonable similarity between what your model predicts and what happens in reality, then you can use your model to determine how things will fail instead of spending tens or hundreds of millions on destroying hardware in order to get a sample size sufficient for various safety ratings. Sample sizes often trend upwards of 50 or more parts, which is infeasible when you're talking about destroying 50 or more helicopters per test, and you might have a few dozen tests to do.
