Someone on here , I know who , but no hard feelings whatsoever, pasted some of my more predictive posts on Chaos engine, in an industry only forum where there is much speculation and hilarity from people that really do know what they are talking about. The whole industry is laughing their collective sexual organs off at the whole thing. But there are exceptions. Most noticeably one Evangelical young man who is so brainwashed that he will not hear a word said against CIG, the project or the management. Well, I've just heard that they are aware of this post (my source tells me they saw it on MMORPG, not here) and that they are probably going to change their reveal planning; similar to what they did over the ship name released through Beer. Oh well. This is the down side of these reveals. But the hilarious thing is that they don't have anything remotely complete to replace this "reveal" with. LOL!!

That time when someone asked about croberts pledge to spend backer money on development It's right here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals quote:As a crowd funded project, Star Citizen's scope is based directly on the support provided by our backers. Money pledged goes directly to the game's development. and implied here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/the-pledge and here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14184-Letter-From-The-Chairman quote:I have a lot of industry friends pat me on the back and say, “Wow, it must be so great to be operating in profit even before you ship!” Their look usually turns to incredulity when I explain that my intention is for all the money we bring in before launch to be spent on development. and here: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/14839-Letter-From-The-Chairman quote:This is all being made possible by your enthusiasm and support. As we promised since the start of the campaign, we invest every dollar raised into the game. Anyone with knowledge about game development can assess our spending based on the information we share every month. It speaks for itself that from the outset our TOS provides for an accounting to be published if we ever had to stop development before delivering. With the progress and the funds we’ve raised this is no longer an issue, but quite obviously we wouldn’t have provided for this clause, if we weren’t using your funds very carefully for the development of Star Citizen. even quoted here: http://www.pcgamer.com/chris-roberts-speaks-out-on-star-citizen-complaints/

I'm also really curious if a lackluster ship sale even bothers Chris/Sandi/Ben. If they have more money than we think they can shrug it off. If they're sensitive to the monthly cashflow, though, I'd be getting a bit nervous. Delusory though the Roberts are, I'm sure there's at least that nagging voice in their back of their minds, "What if this stops working? What then?" Jason Sextro posted:I'm trying to imagine designing and building an industrial facility with a 100 million dollar budget with no planning and flying entirely by the seat of one's pants "The building was originally going to be a six-story parking garage, with shops on the ground floor serving passing pedestrian traffic. However, as investors continued funding the project, I decided to expand the scope, at first adding more commercial space to the lower levels, before later deciding to add residential floors, raising the six-stories to twenty-stories. This meant gutting the work already done in order to excavate more sound foundations. But as time went by and funding continued, I saw I would be able to build something truely special - something to rival the Burj Khalifa. Of course, going from twenty floors to over one-hundred-and-sixty floors meant a few changes along the way. By that stage it was too late to gut the building again and start over, so as one set of contractors were adding levels above ground, another set were digging the foundations deeper and deeper. It's something that has never been done before but I don't forsee any problems coming from it." -- Statement by Roberto Christo, Architect, shortly before his disappearance. In a statement to authorities, Adam Goonne, Project Manager for Eight-Aces Construction, said he hadn't seen Roberto since he inspected the freshly-poured concrete pilings for the new foundations. Police are not treating Roberto's disappearance as suspicious. The public will be able to view the scribbled-on paper napkins that comprise the full set of architectural plans Roberto had made, once the investigation into the collapse is complete. ![]()

We just might be witnessing the beginning of a cascade failure, in which everything continually fails, tumbling down and down in which nothing can be done to rectify its inevitable collapse. The fact that they haven't prepared for the most obvious event in crowd funding (people stop giving you money no matter what you offer) is pretty loving hilarious. But typical. But to be honest, the whole thing is pretty Shakespearean. Like, it is a parable that can appeal to anyone outside of game design. See: A man is viewed as a visionary, a legend in his field. A great man. Under the surface, however, it is a fraud. A fraud that few know, and it has been so long that the truth of it doesn't even matter, the fiction has become the reality. And pretty much it looks like it'll stay that way, not even mattering. His product is beloved by millions, no one is wronged by the lie and the truth is only ugly, while the lie is something beautiful. Until the man himself buys into the fiction people made for him than his own truth. He uses his legendary status to exploit the weak, those who have always worshiped the legend and never saw beyond the man. For support to craft something even more legendary than his previous endeavor, and make history. And for awhile, it works. But the man demands more and more from his followers, making them commit many resources than necessary and squanders them. Believing in his own brilliance, he cuts loose anyone who might overshadow him. He berates and demands arbitrary changes because he is the legend, he is that great man. Others know nothing. He practices nepotism and allows for uncontrolled excesses, all the while believing in his reputation. His project expands in scope, exceeding beyond the bounds of the rational. He views other, competing works with jealousy and demands radical changes to his own to mimic and exceed their features. There's room for only one legend. The goals of the project fade from his mind and he forgets why he was doing it. All he cares about is his legacy and his legend. However, things fall apart. Everything comes crumbling down. He has lost everything given to him on good faith and it is revealed how foolishly and fruitlessly he squandered them. The legend is exposed as a fraud, and all of his previous successes are destroyed around him. He finds that his only legacy is that of the blithering fool, the incompetent. And that's the only way he will be remembered in his field, as a cautionary tale. Not of a visionary to be followed. Its a pretty compelling story and you don't need to know anything about videogames or videogame development to grasp it.
