It's a shame as well, since it's great to see a non-white actor get a lead role, supported by serious actors like Jeremy's Iron and Toby Jones. Meanwhile, this trailer dropped the other day. Kurosawa's Ran is getting re-released on 4K. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwP_kXyd-Rw

Yeah, my thoughts as well. More movies with non white males in the lead are good, but from the trailer it looks to be serviceable but unexciting. Directed by a total unknown as far as I can tell, so that might be interesting or it might not. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0114226/

I thought I saw the Brattle tweet that they were going to be showing it. Though the Brattle can be pretty hit-or-miss with their projection quality. edit: Also drat what an awesome poster.

Another one from New Zealand. It's a biopic about Genesis Potini, a New Zealand speed-chess player who taught chess to underprivileged children in Gisborne while battling severe bipolar disorder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmobdHek8T0

This is a biopic that looks like it goes a little into the playful poo poo. Seems to have a lot of heart and humor, both of which are rare in biopics. Also Cliff Curtis is a treature.

I know Knight of Cups is getting some horrible reviews, but here's an interesting tidbit from Thomas Lennon's (aka Lt. Dangle) 1-day experience on set. It's about as Malick as you can get: http://www.businessinsider.com/thomas-lennon-terrence-malick-knight-of-cups-2016-2

It's just a trailer but I agree in that it didn't do anything for me. Didn't look bad, just looked like something I should wait for streaming. Spending 11-14 dollars to watch a Paul Feig movie probably isn't the best use of your money.

Parts of the trailer looked good, and parts of it made me shake my head. I've never gone back and forth on a movie trailer like that. The ghost plot looks a drat sight better than Ghostbusters 2, but all the parts about forming the team are a little too on the nose. I liked the new equipment though, and I was surprised when my first reaction to the, uh... proton pistols (?) was positive. Sure, make the ghost fights a little more action-y, I'm sure the original films would've done that if special effects back then didn't require the actors to practically stand still. Also, why have the "30 years ago" opener if the movie is a reboot instead of a sequel?
