Scarlet Crush's stuff is supposed to be good, although personally I've never used it with PS3 controllers (their PS4 drivers are pretty great). Never use motioninjoy for anything, it installs a bunch of poo poo on your computer and can gently caress up your USB ports.

Basically what OH NO MAN said. Motioninjoy is hot garbage, and the drivers for that can reportedly cause your computer to BSOD, ignoring how the program itself is shady as all gently caress. Just use Scarlet Crush's XInput Wrapper, I use it for my PS3 controller and it's absolutely perfect for the most part.

Yeah, I'm liking it too so far. I'm just at the harbour area, but the atmosphere is really cool. It manages to be slightly creepy, but without jumpscares. It's a lonely setting because you're the only person wandering around but it doesn't get boring, at least not so far.

NO, we WILL NOT abandon this project! Actually this project will evolve into a full scale Sandbox MMORPG of which we are already running pre-alpha testing at this time.

I'm surprised at how big each area is, I'm in the industrial section which is after the harbour and it's like holy cow. I might not try to solve every puzzle but I wanna solve as many as I can, if I feel like they're not going to be a huge hassle. I'm also enjoying finding combination codes on items I pick up and spin around in 3D. All games should have 3d object examination.

Also the home base is cool since you essentially have a inventory system that's your house and you live there. And you just warp back and forth.

Finished Farcry 3. Brilliant fun to play but my God is the story stupid as hell. I know I've said that before, but that's before I got to the end which was just a complete goddamn mess, capped off by a completely uninteresting "final boss" who replaced the one who had actually given you reason to hate him through the first half of the game, and then a truly terrible "twist" with one of the most stupid "choice" options I think I've ever seen.

The driving, combat, exploration etc were all great and I enjoyed every minute of that. But the awful story, half-assed spouting of cynical realism and jumbled final couple of missions really were terrible and just got in the way.

Thankfully, the FC3 writer (who has a disturbingly high opinion on his own work, which is generally a bad sign in a writer) isn't involved at all in FC4.

The Far Cry 3 story is just completely terrible. Wasn't a huge fan of Blood Dragon either (here's a tip, making the tutorial fun and wacky and self aware doesn't make it less annoying when you do exactly the same things as other tutorials)

Far Cry 2 is where it's at. You're set loose on a depressing African map and given free reign to gently caress things up as much as you choose. Placing mines around a camp then firing in grenade launchers at their buildings to make them run into the mines and then cleaning up the stragglers with your machete makes for rather compelling gameplay, and is completely hosed up and makes the point Far Cry 3 is making without the hamfisted WHAT HAVE I BECOME notion when you've literally killed 10 million people to get to that point.

I far preferred conquering the map in Farcry 3 to Farcry 2's endlessly respawning baddies. The stories of both games were equally stupid.

I'd say, on balance, the ending to FC2 was quite a lot dumber than FC3. Wish they hugely improved the burn radius as well.

I had a lot more fun with Far Cry 3's pure gameplay than with 2's by far. Weapons are more fun, enemies are more fun and the map is way more varied. The bonus "enclosed" levels were also cool as hell. Too bad about the story but I wouldn't play Far Cry 2 just because of that instead.

Let's get a little crazy. Let's have some fun.
Stupid story (at least Blood Dragon's was gloriously stupid), and the characters in FC3 were mostly bad with a few really good ones - the actor who did Vaas really really got into it (he even did some live action stuff playing the guy which is on Youtube) and I also enjoyed the German dude who helps you out on the second island but in general the gameplay was pretty good fun.

One bullet. One gun. Six Chambers. These are my friends.
Gameplay-wise Far Cry 2 and 3 are just super different. 3 is mostly mindless instant gratification where everything is designed to pat you on the back, which is fun in its own way. 2 makes everything a bit of a struggle, so your accomplishments feel significant. I wouldn't call it realistic, but it's granular in a way that makes the world feel more dynamic.

From what I remember of FC2, I remember it being less of a struggle and more of a constant annoyance. Would get so fed up of just trying to drive somewhere and then suddenly 'Oh no, I've driven within a mile of a village/town/random military checkpoint in the middle of nowhere for no reason, so now there's ten guys chasing me and they've blown up my car'. Would happen any time I wanted to go anywhere in the game, regardless of how I traveled or how stealthy I attempted to be, and made getting anywhere a right pain. Exploring just wasn't fun. Other annoyances like having your guns break in fights and stuff only made it worse. Perhaps all this got fixed in a later patch or something, but as it was when I played, the game just wasn't for me.

Good game!
FC3 simply had too much quicktime poo poo for me to enjoy it, the last mission can also gently caress right off with the helicopter segment where you get shot from outside your cone of view. Also you can conquer the whole island but it changes nothing within the story.

It's also an issue of presentation. In Far Cry 3, you're supposed to be some sort of innocent kid that just happened to get caught up in bloodlust and now you're the warrior king (literally) and are liberating the savages, or something.

Far Cry 2 says "gently caress that". It already makes the premise that you're a gun for hire. You have literally no misgivings with killing, and your primary currency is blood diamonds. The game assumes that you, as a mercenary, have all the necessary skills to get your job done but it still has such an oppressive atmosphere that it will grind you down anyway. I've recently started playing it again with the Realism mod and on infamous difficulty and it's night and day compared to Far Cry 3.

Far Cry 2 doesn't have any lovely moralizing. One of the 'kindnesses' you can do for your buddies in Far Cry 2 is to give them a lethal overdose or shoot them in the head rather than leave them suffer, and when you lose them you've lost your 'backup' plan since they're the guys watching your back.
