scuz posted:What are you using to build those things, GS? It's kinda neat The pedals and rackmount icons are blatantly stolen from GuitarGeek. As a matter of fact, I recall the Axe-FX shown is supposed to be an Eventide rack unit of some variation, but I don't really care. I used Paint.net to draw the lines. The line tool has the ability to let you customize the beginning, middle of each line, so I made the beginning an arrow head, and went from there. The background is a screenshot from the RG-16 wiring diagram blank that RJM music provides on their website. All of that diagram is hypothetical, too. I've read up on it, and it seems like it will all work, but I don't know that anybody really knows how to even program all the MIDI on all that stuff? I sure as gently caress don't.

I have posted it on ss.org once before, back when I got it in September 2009. It was a little rough when I bought it, but I finally got around to cleaning it up. It's just ridiculous with the upgrades installed, sustain for days!

The matriarch surprised me with a used Martin D-15 during the holiday season. I returned this Martin D-15 with its scarily fickle neck for a full refund and then bought a 1982 Gibson J-50 and 1996 Epiphone Casino. At least my mother understood and even echoed my concerns regarding the truss rod. No guitar should have to be adjusted 2 weeks since it was purchased. Here's hoping the J-50 isn't garbage. Anybody know if Gibson was putting out good stuff in the 80's? I know they were making ugly guitars to compete with Jackson, Charvel, etc but were they any good?

Woohoo, just picked up a Korg Pitchblack. I think i'm going to like it more than my friend's TU-2. Also what seems to be the general consensus on straplocks? I think I'm going to pick up a couple of sets of Schallers, but if there's something better/cheaper out there then I'm open to suggestions.

no dad im not gay! posted:I use these. That's pretty cool. I'm a big fan of the Fender straplocks. They don't add too much bulk to the guitar or strap, and don't stick out too far either. Plus, a guitar strap can still slip over the button in a pinch. I'm one of those weirdos that's got a bunch of guitars and 1-2 favorite straps, though.

Anyone have any tips? The strings are kept in check with the springs in the back of the guitar which balances how low or high your bridge sits on the two posts. So when you tune one string you have to compensate because you know it will be detuned when you tune the others. Check out ibanezrules.com tech section

Anyone have any tips? Stretch your strings after you change them before you clamp the locking nut back down. Tune each string to pitch and then starting at the head stock go a couple of frets down the neck and grab the sting in between the nut and your finger and pull up on it. Move a few frets down with each hand and do it again, do that all the way to the bridge, re-tune the string and do it again, and again, I usually do each string 3-4 times. Then re-tune until each string is up to pitch, lock the nut down and do one last tuning with the fine tuners.

Finally got the pickups for my new bass in the mail: They're going on the SX bass on the right: I paid a visit to my luthier friend and dropped off the pickups, and I had a chance to look at the bass. It's coming along great - he took that awful fake vintage tint off the neck and gave it a slick clear finish. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the month. I use Grolsch rubber washers but I'll switch to proper strap locks soon. Washers become soft and slip off over time and just don't work in some positions (the upper strap peg on a Les Paul for example)

Thanks Dragon Eye Morrison! Yeah I have a '65 B-25 and it's an absolute tone monster. If I had better sense I would have got a newer J-200 as I've yet to lay hands on a single one that was nothing less than breathtaking but I practically stole this J-50 for 700 dollars so even if it ends up sounding "okay", I will be happy.

Thanks for the tips everyone, I need something that will let me easily remove the strap so I can put my Ibanezes in their case so I think I'll rock either the Schallers or Fenders.
