That's honestly what I expect. He hasn't given himself enough time/space for all the things to happen for a major reversal of fortune, and even if you allow for author fiat, a victory doesn't fit. A recurring theme has been that "usual tropes are always wrong", and the whole "enemies unite to defeat a bigger threat, peace follows" theme is the most hackneyed trope of them all. I expect it will all fall, and the others will convert all of Westros into a land of forever winter. Cue up an epilogue of Eastros a long time after protecting themselves from the Others crossing the narrow sea.
