Republican obstructionism got a lot of them elected but the side effect was having no unifying policy vision whatsoever. Say what you will about the Democrats, but at least they were actually obstructed from doing things they mostly seemed to want to do, and managed to squeak out the ACA despite having their own competing wings of the party yanking it in different directions. If they can come up with a positive agenda and a few policy ideas to run on (a stretch, sure) maybe they'll have a shot.
