It is dumb that they don't just let people have a chance to earn the old event ships, but then I guess they wouldn't be able to sell them on Mudd's for $45 or whatever

Shame one of the rumors I heard didn't pan out - that it was supposed to be a mode-shifter like a science destroyer, only it could swap between engineering mode (the UFO) and science mode (the jellyfish). That could have been a neat niche. Now it joins the other heavy cruisers in the trash heap.

I do think it'll be funny if it turns in to the ultimate AFK vessel. TFO starts, you pop jelly mode, and you just sit still as the 10km healing totem

The jellyfish is adequate. I just started flying the Temer raider on my Klingon and I gotta say, I am 100% into the Alliance aesthetic. I hope next anniversary is something space magic oriented like a scout ship or multi-mission. Maybe even a science spearhead.

That seems drastically foreshortened. Saucer's way closer to the camera. Probably still big though since it's a genericruiser.

The original was pretty drat big  but I still don't think that much bigger than the J. And this is one case where they have plenty of excuse shrinking it, as a different jelly that might be smaller. Oh sweet I didn't see before but this year's new baseball shield lets you add wood panelled highlighting to any ship, similar to the stuff on the weather control vessel. Gonna get that 70s station wagon vibe going on.

Any worthwhile tips for us new ones to whom this Risa summer event is the first one? Is there something in the store that goes to the "must buy"-category, or is it mostly visual stuff like in the winter event?

The summer store never actually closes and you can access it from your reputation interface year round allowing you to plan all your purchases at your leisure.

The proper way is to buy the kit on a level 65 char - it will come to you as a VR mk infinity kit. Throw it into the upgrade window and immediately remove it - that will change it from mk infinity to mk XII. Then re-engineer it until it has [KPERF]x2. Then you can upgrade it - when it upgrades to UR it will get another [KPERF] automatically making it [KPERF]x3. If you mess up and upgrade before re-engineering it, the game will prevent it from rolling [KPERF]x3, so you have to do things in the right order.

Event runs from 6/30 to 7/30, so a full 31 day month. You need to do the event 20 times. So you're fine as long as you get in and get your dailies when you're not on vacation.
