The only music I really don’t like is prison rap talking about doing violent felonies in explicit detail. I don’t need that in my head while I’m working, or, well, ever.

I liked some gangsta rap when i was in the kitchen, felt like one of the only times I could feel good about enjoying it. Conversely, I was once sitting in the park in the middle of the day and heard a guy ride by on a bicycle with a really loud stereo on it, blaring Dance with the Devil by Immortal Technique.

It's a shame you can't just set up a trough of potatoes with cabbage and a second with Guinness and call it a traditional prix fixe menu.

I seriously hate when three dozen people drop with no warning. Like, can none of you grab the cellular device in your pocket and give a heads up? The worst was when I worked off a major interstate and we’d get entire sports teams dropped on us with zero warning in off hours. The best was when Steph Curry brought his entire rehearsal dinner to my place for lunch, that was loving cool (and it just so happened to be on a day that literally the best people in the store were all working at the same time, so it was smooth as gently caress)

The other fun one is when all your regular catering customers call you last minute on the same day and you start having to say no because there’s literally not enough people to make and deliver it all and there’s no way you’re gonna pull them out of thin air four hours ago.

Passed the ServSafe manager test with a 92... and you only need a 70 to pass. Yes, there were a few Gotcha questions, and some odd wording, or else I would have gotten a 100%. But here is the thing, most people could get a 70 just from the easy ones.

Presumably you’d be using coconut milk, and it does not like 500 degrees in my experience.

I've had that with a peanut sauce and it kicked rear end. You might need to play around with a couple different sauces, maybe thickened and thus emulsified with short grain rice?

A lot of places around where I am also do gyros as well as pizza, but not a one of them has a gyro pizza. Tzatziki instead of marinara, kinda like a white pizza, with tomatoes, gyro meat and feta baked off, and topped with shredded lettuce after it comes out. Iunno, I think it sounds good. Though I do like your spicy Thai pizza too, and might try that myself.

There was a Greek place near my last apartment that did a gyro pizza that was pretty drat good. Greek style tomato sauce, gyro + onion + feta on the pizza, tzatziki on the side for dipping. Never saw them serve it with lettuce on it, that might be a hard sell in the US - but I can see it working.

Swedish curry pizza with kebab and banana as a topping was one of my fondest memories of studying abroad in Sweden. A very simple curry sauce instead of red. Of course, they (at least in 1999) called curry, kebab and banana the 'Afrikana' pizza, which is a little confused...

I am going to be starting a full-time certification program in about a year (for about 1 year), I still very much need to support myself during it and my current field (Pharma Quality) is not flexible enough to support me. Someone suggested that working as a waiter would be good because the schedule is flexible, but I have never worked in a restaraunt before. The program is a 1.5 hour commute away, M-F 7:00AM-3:30 PM. The brother of a friend's friend owns a few restaraunts and the friend of a friend has suggested I work at one in the past, but details beyond that are foggy. Is this realistic? I have good general social skills and working habits but again, no experience so just trying to get input from people who are experienced.

Like any job it's got it's ups and downs. People love to trot out the horror stories but IME it's a fairly easy way to make some decent money unless you're truly toxic, stupid, or lazy. At 95% of places, once you learn the ropes there's really nothing to it.
