The batsmen generally, apart from Cook and Trott, have done the job in this game and scored at a reasonable enough rate against not the worst bowling side. You need a decent slow bowler on this type of pitch though and they haven't got one. But it won't be blamed on that because Tredders is a good honest lad who tries hard.

I love TMS going on about Stoke's tenacity and vigour when he's bowling below 80mph and has taken 0 wickets during the game. They might have stopped how: I gave up on them a hour ago. He's a decent batsman (when he isn't getting ten ducks in a row or whatever it was), but his bowling needs a load of work to be test quality. He's fine as a number 6: but then there's the question between him and Moeen Ali and I think that Moeen is the better batsman and thus should go ahead. England'll end up dropping Jordan for the second test and will slot Stokes at 8 or something like that which would be incredibly dumb

I vaguely remember that its 15 overs minimum in the last hour, which I guess started at half 9 but I could be wrong. I personally think they should go on until its too dark on day 5 if there's a chance of a result, its irritating when a test ends and its still light for another half hour...

The problem that they have is that they're flying out Moeen Ali, and that suggests that they'll play him. He'd be good in that sort of role as well (and he's required if England carry on playing four dedicated seamers at home) and they both can't fit in a team unless they drop one of the top 5 (not happening) or if one of them plays at number 8. If they fly out Moeen and don't play him in the two tests, then it might be a couple of counties that are pissed at England stealing spinners and not playing them
