Their view is that they are being assaulted on all sides by evil that seeks to destroy everything they stand for. The mere existence of people not celebrating Christmas is a terrible crime. The other side of it is that they realize that people celebrating Christmas is kind of habit. You see atheists, agnostics, and people that are Christian only in name celebrating it because it's part of American culture. It's another control thing, really. We MUST force people to celebrate Christmas because WE MUST KEEP CHRIST IN AMERICA. It's more moral panic over the decline of Christianity in the States in general. I'm a Buddhist and don't celebrate Christmas and I've had people go positively apeshit about that.

seems she is on satellite radio now. I listened to that exchange and I see two parts to it. One was her hostility to the woman for being in an interracial marriage. The other was saying n*gger. and repeating the old complaint "oh they call eachother that all the time Why is it wrong when I say it, they are real racists FIST AMENDMENT" I honestly wonder if she was hostile to the woman for being black. Or felt she had to pull the denying racism card. Because OBAMA. I wonder how she would have handled it if the woman was a jew and heard anti semitic jokes from her none jewish husband. Or if she would be just as hostile for the woman marrying a gentile. Or if a homosexual called in...hmmm

Dunno but I don't think the bad apple falls fare from the rotten tree. http://www.independent.com/news/2007/aug/31/military-investigation-dr-lauras-son-complete/ Her son got in hot water for posting some loathsome stuff on his myspace account. She also got slammed when her former lover posted a bunch of naked pictures they took of each other. Normally I don't think that sort of thing is right, but when her message was "shacking up is terrible" and other conservative view points along with shaming callers who are less than morally pure it was a little cathartic to see her knocked down a peg. If she came from the angle that she overcame her past and knew certain actions could be mistakes I could respect it but her attitude was incredibly judgmental without any sort of self introspection. EDIT: Not to say that anything the photos showed her doing was morally wrong, but if a caller had to same event happen to her Dr Laura would not have had any sympathy whatsoever and would have turned it around about how it was her fault. What I don't get about the "War on Christmas" is this. Generally it always seems to happen because some Reddit Atheist stomping his feet about some stupid issue that only like 2 people in his entire community care about. So, they get the christmas tree taken down, and suddenly you produce an army of angry "Evangelical/Tea Partiers" with even more ammo about the "Godless Left" (which is untrue), while real, legitimate cases of Church/State get ignored. It's such a waste of time for all sides really. There's nothing wrong with saying "Happy Holidays" either because we live in a country that is no longer predominately christian.
