Turns out that information doesn't sink in when you introduce it once, hurriedly, and then never reinforce it. Who knew!?
Rogan is a loving idiot and we could've been deprogramming him by now if it weren't for the DNC cutting Bernie off at the knees and Bernie just going "Yes, dear."

the idea of bernie sanders "legitimizing" joe rogan makes me wanna bang my head against a wall. he's one of the biggest podcasters in the world and bernie isn't going to impact that either way, he's already as "legitimate" as he needs to be. i loving hate the culture war poo poo of determining your virtue and sin by your media consumption

They also balked at Bernie doing a town hall on Fox News, despite the fact that he had the white boomer Fox audience eating out of the palm of his hand with his message

Having Republicans at your convention is fine, however

I don’t think people quite get what legitimacy is.

bring Laura Loomer on Fox News legitimizes her, but going on Fox News doesn’t...because it’s a major news channel

inb4 it turns out that one of the W-era powers is worded vaguely enough that the EOP can declare a specific type of emergency and just put someone in place, then the Dems say "hey now wait a minute," before doing exactly nothing

Hmmm? Oh yes, of course. The GOP will absolutely sacrifice their Senate majority to put Fash Fashmunson (age 30) on the court lickety split.

sadly unfunny

if only liberals had that kind of dedication to anything

all this "do they want to squander our good will???" talk is to the same tune as "I'd like to see ol' Donny Trump wiggle his way out of THIS one"

which is to say, they'll guilelessly jam someone into the supreme court, guaranteed. the rest, hard to predict.

imo they wouldn't be libs if they felt that kind of vulnerability. belief in liberalism flows from a certain level of personal material comfort. if they do feel that kind of endangered, they'll shift either to the left and into socialism, or to the right and into fascism

I mean are we talking "liberals" as in your regular person who has vaguely liberal views and just votes blue every two to four years or are we talkng about Liberals as in the blue check marks and dnc leadership. The former can learn i think but the latter are lost causes.

For no reason in particular, this reminds me of the posts when I used to get chain probated in D&D for saying "uhhh maybe you guys shouldn't write the entire Midwest off as being racist since they're polling trump +1".

There was a distinct flavor of poster that bounced back and forth between "Hillary Clinton will be able to reach across the aisle and work with republicans" and "the iron :abuela: will bring a thousand years of darkness and destory the republicans forever".

Once again, thinking about this for no reason in particular

right, but the problem is that roberts being the swing vote means he’s the arbiter of what policy lives and what policy dies, and he’s far too right wing for that to be acceptable. packing the court was already the only option, but dem leadership was too scared to do it. now they have no choice.

This is total revisionist history.

Dems didn't chicken out about it prior to Merrick Garland, it wasn't even an option the last time the Dems had a Senate majority.. The previous attempt at packing the court was FDR during the Great Depression and even he couldn't pull it off.

1) FDR’s court packing threat ended the lochner era and saved the new deal. also the political coalitions were completely different then in every single respect.
2) I never said Dems chickened out on it prior to Merrick Garland. it wasn’t necessary then. it became necessary after gorsuch and Kavanaugh, and is necessary now, but for the past two years leadership hasn’t talked about it because it’s too scary

The Dems don't have the power to pack the courts at the moment. It's not chickening out if you don't discuss something you have no power to do.
