I used to think the usual suspects was good, then I watched it as an adult. Someone tell me why Kevin Spacey deserves an Oscar for that? All he did was phone in some voice-over work and fake a limp.

There was a story that long after Zoolander came out he seemed to unofficially change his opinion on the film and sort of said that it was the post 9/11 reaction that probably tinted his original review. I seem to recall Ebert and Roeper were both incredibly negative on the Power Puff Girls movie and Zoolander due to what they felt to be offensive about them post-9/11.

Checking out their old reviews of popular movies is a weird experience. Both considered Aliens to be "too over the top" and "excessive" with violence and stuff. Strange criticisms really.

Death to Smoochy is a fun movie as well. Every now and then Ebert dissed a gem, but he was usually on-point and had good commentary and insight on films. Plus he wasn't afraid to be a savage to poo poo movies, so he's a good dude in my opinion.

This is all brilliant satire by the way, just like his movies. They're boring and bad on purpose, to provoke an audience response.

They tried to give him a program so he could type his words in and it would reply in his own voice and not sound like Stephen Hawking. The quickly found out that despite years of footage they couldn't use "At the Movies with Siskel and Ebert because they were always yelling at each other. The commentary for Citizen Kane is what they went with.
