Dropping out of hyperspace at the prearranged rendezvous point, you find the Pallas waiting for you.  Once you all make it aboard, you can see the lines of a jump to lightspeed through the large hangar door as the Pallas evades any possibility of further Imperial attacks.  Your mission was a success, though neither the Pallas nor the Nebula made it out unscathed the transfer of the crew and supplies necessary to keep the Pallas running, and you flying had been completed.

Aran Jinn

Aran lets out a sigh of relief when he manages to set down the still smoking X-Wing without crashing it. He'd been drat lucky the shot that blew out the canopy of his fighter hadn't killed him. Being open to the void wasn't great, but it was sure the hall better than being dead. That he'd managed to hyper out and land safely had been due in no small part to his astromech somehow staunching the worst of the damage.

As he popped the emergency removal seals on what little remained of the canopy and broke the airtight seal on his helmet he was greeted the normal sounds of the hangar bay and an angry roar.

Looking down Aran found a gesticulating wookie at the base of the ladder. Hefting himself out of his cockpit, he slides down the ladder and responds to the annoyed wookie, "Take it up with the Imps, they're the ones shooting at it, not me."

The wookie replied with another set of growls and then gestures to the immaculate state of Crevette's X-Wing as it gracefully sets down nearby.

"What can I say, he got lucky, I'm hardly the only one who got banged up." Aran then does a double-take, "Wait, who are you anyways?"

The wookie responds again in Shyrwook with an explanation.

"Wait, your my mechanic? Where were you earlier?

More Shyrwook.

"Oh, ok. Well I'll try not to make your job harder than it has to be. If you ever need supplies requisitioned or anything let me know and I'll do what I can. I've gotta go file an after-action report, but I'll make sure you've got what you need to handle getting her back into flying shape. I'm sure VC will be able to help too."

The wookie seems mollified, and Aran makes his way towards his quarters to get changed out of his flight-suit.

As B5's B-wing smoothly flies into the Pallas's hangar, B5 transmits a small signal to the maintenance bay and a small army of pit droids unfold from their standby mode and swarm towards his B-wing carrying refueling/power hoses and replacement parts as it sets down.

B5 clamors out of the cockpit and makes a brief visual inspection of his ship and exchanges a few quick bursts of binary with the nearest pit droid, detailing additional modifications that B5 specifies after replaying the last sortie approximately 134 times in his cognitive module during the jump back.

The pit droids immediately begin working on the B-wing, and sparks begin arcing across its body as modifications and tweaks are made.

Seeing Aran walk back to his quarters, B5 waits until his squadmates have docked and have seen to their ships, and waits to see if they stick around or retire to their cabins.

"Good work out there, both the Pallas and the Nebula took beating but we made it out of what was clearly an Imperial ambush intact, which is a victory. We're still looking into just how the Imps figured out our rendezvous point with the Nebula, but for the moment we can take solace in the fact that they arrived after the transfer of supplies and equipment was essentially completed. The captain of the Nebula extends you his thanks, especially to our 'brave B-Wing pilot' who blocked that Interceptor's attack. Good work." She nods at B5.

"Command believes it has a lead on where we might finally get some weapons for this bucket, but the intel types are still working out the details. Once there's an actual plan ready, you'll be notified as you'll no doubt be playing a key part. In the meantime, we're still trying to get the Pallas back into fighting shape, and any help you can provide the techs on that front would be appreciated. Now, unless there are any questions, I need to get back to overseeing the damage control teams." She waits patiently for questions.

Crevette wedges his giant frame out of his relatively tiny cockpit and drops to the hangar deck. Glowering at the torpedoes still peeking out of their launch bays he says "drat, I hate coming back with unfired ordnance. I could have had that Imp hotshot if we'd stayed just a few more seconds. Why'd you give the signal to hyper..." He trails off as he sees Aran's shattered canopy. He whistles "Nevermind, I'm just impressed you managed to keep that thing level."

After the end of the meeting, Aran returned to his office. He was going over some of the mountain of paperwork he was responsible for when he noticed that Crevette's mechanic had requested and been sent plans for a convoy defense X-wing variant, the ACT-65. The repairs to his own fighter amounted to essentially a ground up rebuild so he might as well take advantage of the opportunity. He sent a message to Jow'thar to rebuild to the ACT-65 specs. He had no doubt he'd hear an earful from the wookie about the extra work, but if it saved repairs down the road it would be worth it. Not to mention, looking over the specs for squadron's next assignment, an escort focused model would be a good fit.

Crevette, having landed with a pristine fighter, left what little work there was in the hands of his technician and spent his spare time exploring the Pallas. He soon realized that it was even smaller on the inside than it looked from the outside! Still, Crevette was an optimistic Calamari at heart and so he convinced the ship's chief engineer to print him off a complete blueprint of the ships ducts and maintenance crawlspaces and started wedging his large frame, sheathed in slab like muscles from the endless toil of hard labor under the direction of the Imperial slave masters who occupied his homeworld. There might still be Imperial's hiding on the ship. Crevette certainly hoped there were. His hatred for them knew no limits and he would never get tired of wiping their stain off the galaxy.

Your search through the ship is not an easy one. Though the Pallas is larger than a normal Gozanti, the ducts and maintenance were still clogged with debris, and a few were inaccessible due to leakage from the power plant which still hasn't been fully repaired. What searching you can do doesn't reveal any imperial stragglers. Though you do get to see Sgt. Kabrowski and Sgt. Crane putting their troops through simulated boarding actions.

Overall, though the techs taken on from the Nebula are doing their best, the ship is critically short of parts, and there's only so much jury rigging can do. Still, things are starting to settle into a regular pattern aboard the ship.

For the second time in a row, Aran makes it back to the Pallas in the smoking ruins of a fighter. At least this time his cockpit was still intact. Besides VC's constant berating he more than expected to be greeted by an extremely angry wookiee. Instead Jow'thar is silent, looking at the fighter thoughtfully for a time and then just walking away. Aran isn't sure what to make of this, but with after-action reports to file he doesn't have time to consider it too deeply. Despite his personal performance, the mission had been a roaring success. Even now techs were unloading the haul of equipment off of the U-Wing. There was more than enough here to get the Pallas' weapons into a serviceable state, the power-plant would still be a problem, but they were moving forward one step at a time, and once they solved that they would have a fully functioning assault carrier with all of the possibilities that entailed.

Wider considerations, however, could wait. What Aran really needed now was something to eat. So, paperwork be damned, he heads out for the mess hall on Deck 2 to see what the ship's chef was serving.

As B5 finishes his strafing run on the station and blows the fuel tanks, he hears the voice of Kabrowski thanking him for the assist and confirming the Rebel Marines have managed to complete their objective, and were making good on their escape.

The victory is short lived however, as he hears the alarm on his ships sensors blaring their warnings. A squad of interceptors had just arrived in the area, and were bearing down on him quickly.

Confirming that Kabrowski's U-Wing had managed to get off station safely and seeing that Aran had already jumped out, B5 veered away from the encroaching Interceptors using the explosions and debris from the stations fuel stores as cover, and engaged his hyperdrive just as the Interceptors began opening fire.

As B5 exited hyperspace at the rendezvous, he saw the now familiar sight of Aran's smoking charred wreckage of a fighter already being attended to by a swarm of mechanics, hosing it down with flame retardants. B5 silently thanked his makers that he had no olfactory sensors, because he had heard that the scent of burnt hair, particularly Bothan hair, was no pleasant experience.

After confirming his ship had only taken minor shield damage, he left his B-wing in the care of his pit droids and headed towards Vraska and Crevette, who had also just finished their post flight checks.

Several days pass with life on-board the Pallas proceeding apace. As for Aran, he's been fairly scarce of late too, though unlike the wookiee, it's not really a mystery as to where he's been. The H-6 drops out of hyperspace and returns to it's hangar space, for the first time Aran has returned on a ship that was completely undamaged. It's clear he's jubilant about his recent performance. Jow'thar seems equally happy, not only had he scored a kill from his spot in the turret, the ship was still in one piece.

Descending the hatch, he saw B5 waiting for him. The droid was without a doubt an excellent pilot, his commanding position at the top of the squadron's kill-board made that plain. However, he would never be a particular good spy. However, Aran was in a mood to play along.

A trip up the lift and down the hall to the galley later, he was faced with Geante and B5's attempt at Bothan cooking. He had only been to Bothawui once, he'd grown up here in the cluster, but his parents had grown up on the homeworld and still carried much of its culture and traditions with them. He had many fond memories of the sweet, spicy taste of the ruby-red kothtri his parents always kept a pitcher of around the house, and of, on special occasions his mother baking salar which they managed to import from homeworld in an herbaceous pastry dough that filled the whole house with a wonderful smell.

The quality of their creations... varied. Some were good, if not particularly authentic, others were more authentic but not amazingly executed, and one or two were both good and reminded him of the food he used to enjoy. Their real triumph though was that through some fluke of luck or happy accident they had managed to make a legitimately good imitation of kothri. Regardless of the quality though, the dishes reminded him of growing up. It was bittersweet, for though they were happy memories they were stained by the fact that the empire had taken that life away from him, along with his parents. If his home hadn't been destroyed, it was likely that some fatcat imperial bootlicker occupied it now. Still, he was touched by the concern of his squadmates, and dutifully tried each of the dishes.

Once all was said and done, and he'd made sure both Jow'than and Geante had to try the creations as well, he offered his sincere thanks to his two squadmates. "You probably shouldn't quit flying to take up a career in Bothan cuisine, but thanks, you did good. Also, you're going to have to give me whatever recipe you used to mix up that kothri."
