Switzerland might have gotten ref'd out of a game tying goal, not sure if that player gave up on the open net because the whistle had gone or if he really was trying to shoot and just whiffed. Going by the relative lack of outrage, may have been the latter.

Kazakhstan looks better than I thought they would. Clearly not as talented but they all skate well and their goalie looks good so far.

Kazakhstan is cool. They beat a BCHL Junior A team 5-2 in a pre-tournament warmup game so judging from that I figured they wouldn't be a total pushover at this tournament. The bulk of their players have been playing together on the same junior team for a while now so that should help their team structure here. They look competent enough to not get blown out, which is all I ask.

The 3 Keys for US success against Kazakhstan NHL.com article just seems condescending somehow. Like gee I wonder who is going to possibly win that game and by what margin of no less than 5 goals exactly.

Do the silky skating stuff Quinn

I'm here to see either: 1) Quinn Hughes tear poo poo up 2) Kazahkstan upset win

I guess scratching Jack Hughes makes sense because you don't want him to get hurt or whatever against Kazakhstan, but also, what the gently caress come on

obviously i want team usa to win but i have a lot of respect for kazakhstans "lets just try to cherry pick the whole game" strategy

The two Flyers with hat tricks in the tournament, Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee, were both drafted with Blues picks from the Brayden Schenn trade. I don't really have a point besides "huh, how about that."
|
# ? Dec 29, 2018 05:18 |

thats perfect since the flyers strategy seems to be to lose every game 6-5 or 7-6 or whatever

the Kazakhs really don't look that bad even if they're getting blown out

Ok Kazakh is getting tuned but it had to feel good for them to have the crowd explode on that goal

the kazak goalie has a better save percentage than the usa one

# ? Dec 29, 2018 06:47 |

guaranteed the US goalie doesn't play another game. Keyser and Knight are better, waiting to see if Knight gets any action. I was kind of thinking he'd get this start to be honest.

So the Kazakhs have allowed 120+ shots in two games and they still have to play Sweden and Slovakia. They're gonna average like 50 shots against a night I think.

The larger tournaments are great fir the underdog story and sentiment. In the 2010 olympics and the games i went to in this years tourney, the crowd generally gravitates to the underdog (unless vs canada).
