mine are fixed for like a single year? and i don’t think i’ve ever seen it available fixed for more than 5 in australia apparently the culture is to just have your mortgage floating the whole time

mortgage rates are like max 5 year fixed here. 2.29% for five year fixed, or a whoppin' 1.49% for a 5-year variable if your credit score and down payment are high enough you can probably get a variable rate mortgage under 1% because at 20% down you don't have to pay any mortgage insurance lol

Gonna refi asap unless rates spike as none of the normal banks would accept our filthy foreign documents so we had to use a specialist (department of the same banks).

When my parents bought the house I grew up in, they were able to take over its existing mortgage, which was locked in at 15% interest. And they considered themselves tremendously lucky to get such a bargain.
