Video seems a bit cut off at the top and bottom of the screen. Otherwise, I enjoy the editing, since you cut out most of the trash dialog.

During gameplay the black boxes are there the at top and bottom of the screen, the only reason I haven't edited them out is because action text's appear in the bottom black box. I'll do some careful cropping in future.

You can actually use the Sword Master's insults in regular fights. You will never learn the correct answer, the pirates will just say "No fair, that's one of the Sword Master's insults" and you'll get a point.

I knew you could still have sword fights even after the encounter with Carla but I totally forgot that point. Thank you for reminding me, I might show it off in an accidental encounter but it's not something I plan to show off unless it's asked of me.

If I had to pick a single element that I prefer over anything else in this series, it would be insult swordfighting. When you were fighing the Sword Master, did you get the answers wrong on purpose in order to show off all of her insults? paradoxGentleman fucked around with this message at 14:11 on Feb 1, 2014 |

The Secret Of Monkey Island - Episode 5 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyqEa4Ox0S8 This episode returns with Guybrush having finally completing his quests and his journey back to the Scumm Bar, but... I won't spoil it for anyone. This episode is very dialogue heavy, mainly between Guybrush and a dude with a special coat who can't stop flailing his arms! I don't know what happened with the cropping here, it didn't seem to take during the encoding process.

Stan's such a great character, I love how the pattern on his jacket not moving at all, was a technical limitation turned running joke. Also, Lechuck has a great voice actor.

The Secret Of Monkey Island - Episode 6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIDnow8_qT4 Our search for a crew continues, this video concludes the ending of Act 1. I'll have the next video up some time over the weekend. I'm also going to purchase a new headset as this one has been on it's way out for a while, even with the microphone virtually pressed against my lips I have to talk loudly to even get anything audible. Hopefully as of next week I'll be able to provide better commentary.

In the main LP I'm now on part 2 so it's too late to show it off there. But I'm planning a bonus video of an alternate ending and a scene with Bob. I could always include it there, spoiler tag what it is as I'm intrigued to know what I missed. I might go back to Meathook's in an earlier save game to see if I was right in thinking he performed a tattoo routine in his home. The Secret Of Monkey Island - Episode 7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTpEmE2xDjo This is the entirety of Act II. I didn't think I'd get it all in but it ran to 18 minutes without rushing. I guess I padded it out a little more with my misuse of the inventory and going into the wrong drat doorway. There's at one point you may have a bit of a warning of turning down your volume a notch, I thought after the initial voice-over it wouldn't happen again but I had to consult it a few times. You'll know it when you see it, you'll have some warning before it happens again. I really have to say that I'm enjoying re-visiting TSOMI and I'm very much looking forward to Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge. I'm especially looking forward to Curse, I'll explain more on why closer to the time. This will be the last video I will be making using this headset, a new one was ordered yesterday and should arrive at the start or middle of next week. This video is a re-recording as the quality really is dropping and I had to speak more slowly and louder with the re-take. I'm not going to whine about technical problems, they've serviced me well over the years. Rocket Baby Dolls fucked around with this message at 23:10 on Feb 8, 2014 |

If you had looked at the cereal in the cabinet you would have been told it was named something like 'Grog-Os'. That is the clue that it'll fit the recipe as the pirate leaders told you what's in grog back on melee.

Deathwind posted:If you had looked at the cereal in the cabinet you would have been told it was named something like 'Grog-Os'. That is the clue that it'll fit the recipe as the pirate leaders told you what's in grog back on melee. The clue is the cereal boxtop stuck in the captain's log, which shows that cereal was at least at hand while the two were trying to figure out how to reach the island. Plus, the seemingly random chemical stuff in the recipe is in most modern sugary cereals (if you've ever read the side of a box of cereal after finishing the back), and you only need one or more of those for the recipe. BHA and Yellow 8 in particular really stood out to me as being just the kind of artificial poo poo that would be in a cereal that chews up the roof of your mouth. Fortified cereals contain zinc oxide (zinc), pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), and [thia]mine mononitrate (Vitamin B1). Here's what the official walkthrough (which is in the form of Guybrush's memoir) says: Guybrush's memoir posted:Here the recipe stumped me. Zinc oxide? Hydrochloride? I had no idea what those might be. It was then that I noticed the list of ingredients on the box of cereal I'd been eating. With a shrug I tossed in a handful.

Hirayuki posted:That's a pretty weak clue; everything is named Grog-O-something in this place, and the stuff the pirates said was in grog is not listed in that recipe. None of the walkthroughs I looked at gave any specific contexts, just solutions, I couldn't really remember where to find the clue so I just rolled with the clueless bad memory and didn't hide the fact I didn't know the actual answer. But thank you both for clearing it up. The new headset won't arrive until thursday, my next day off is Friday so I'm thinking of recording a few episodes and having a Monkey Island weekend of three episodes, one for each day. That video is hilarious, I'd love to know the back story behind it

Gotta love how video games seem to bring out the worst in humanity. That clip reminds me of the Fox News story they ran after Portal 2 came out that demonized the game and the creators for making adopted kids feel bad about being adopted. Not sure which is better/worse of these two stories honestly

The low music volume is so my crappy microphone can be heard. A new one should be arriving tomorrow and I've already made it a point to ramp up the music volume. The MI games have always had some really excellent music scores which was one of the reasons behind buying a new headset.

Speaking about music > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a324ykKV-7Y It's the same short intro song of Monkey Island played on a bunch of Sound PC Boards things. Hey at lest it's not the Monkey Island School Play. There is something about old PC speakers and sound chips. I wish I could hear Gravis Ultrasound board in its entirely. Also the program SCUMM really ruins a music score in the second game. So I'm really glad these remakes came out. Now if only whoever owns it now Sam and Max Hit the Road would somehow be re-released.
