everybody remember their newton's laws though, action/reaction. I know small guns are 'less intimidating' but they in many cases shoot the same cartridges as much larger guns. If you buy a compact 9mm or whatever as your very first gun, you will probably not shoot it enough to git gud, as it will have so much more recoil than a larger pistol. However, if you are going strictly for a concealed carry thing, you don't want the larger gun, but you may want a larger side piece to do some practice with.

gunland is counterintuitive and weird sometimes.

Also remember that it is almost impossible to own just one gun unless you really don't like it.

gun rights are a populist cause and chris rock's "$100 gun, $5000 bullets" sketch would do nothing but shift more guns away from minorities and into the hands of scared rich whites.

Inhereted my granddad's 12ga shotgun that I killed my first quail with but it's just been sitting in my gun safe for years.

My bare bones completely stock Ruger 10/22 is my favorite gun. It was the first gun I learned to shoot with when I was ~6-7 years old and it's still as good nearly 25 years later. And ammo is still dirt cheap. :)

I've owned or shot a plethora of guns, from .22lr to .50, bolt action to fully automatic, but honestly this one is the only one that I will never get rid of.

not sure how i feel about .45 even though i like the design

There are all kinds of 1911s. It's crazy and Colt doesn't make 'em all Without doing any research I'm going to say yes to both of those calibers. I think 9mm is widely available and I know for a fact RIA makes 1911s chambered for 9mm.

45 is fun but expensive. Doing the math to figure out how much $$ you're sending down range can be sobering.
