Looked good, I have high hopes. It took like 20 minutes to explain to my wife’s boyfriend who “the black guy” was because I let out a little WOOP WOOP when Lando popped on screen (I guess he said he hadn’t seen the movies since he was a kid? Pretty big thing to forget even still) but I’m definitely going to be seeing this opening night.

Lol you went woop woop at a Star Wars trailer.

Is this the point where they shake up the tired franchise by going a little camp with it? I sure hope so

Wouldn't it be weird if Star Crash or Battle Beyond the Stars came out before A New Hope and we were stuck with sequels, prequels, and one off movies about how Stella Star and Akton met? Or the how rocky relationship between the Emperor (Christopher Plummer) and Prince Simon (David Hasselhoff) unfolded, and how Elle the rootin' tootin' robot got his southern accent?

I must be the only star wars fan that enjoyed the recent trailer, I thought it looked entertaining. Also gently caress yeah Lando. I am going to see it with my buds and I think we'll have a fun time seeing it

That'd be great because Lando is pissed at Han about some space bullshit and is going off on him, so Solo goes in for a soft tender kiss and pulls away. A few seconds pass and Lando grins and says "Works every time"

Han sees Falcon for the first time 'woah, check her out dude, what a beauty' (a wink wink reference to Luke calling it a piece of junk, it rhymes like poetry) *licks he own lips*. Camera shows the iconic gap in the front part of the ship filled (she's obviously a younger version). Lando starts to embarassingly explain the joke to the audience to make sure the idiots got it 'it's a ship dude, not a chick' *chewie moves his groucho marx brows up and down*.

this is about the only thing that gives me cautious optimism in the face of a troubled production.

the fact that everyone shrieked and diaped out when TLJ wasn't quite the rote satisfaction of their every expectation has me feeling like they are gonna return to making the star wars as formulaic as humanly possible tho

Which is weird and sad, I liked TLJ and know a lot of people, SW fans and not, who also did. It "killed some sacred cows" when it came to SW and was interesting. But I guess autistic screeching is louder than people saying "good job"

it's definitely why some people did not like TLJ. if you think we would have benefitted from a tertiary supporting character turning to the camera to deliver 10 minutes of exposition about how he was once called darth plagueous or whatever, you are one of them.

The critics did the same as always, as they are contractually obligated to rate a Star Wars movie highly. But the opinion of the regular viewer is clear.

Honestly the easiest way to cut 45 minutes from the film would be to just delete the entire casino sequence.

we can absolutely agree that the casino planet stuff was the flimsiest part of the whole film. i actually liked the payoff where they democratize heroism by way of inspiration with the shot of the kid at the end, but it wasn't worth the digression they took to set it up.

A friend got me the book for Christmas because "I was reading it and thought Bonzo would love this! It talks about the 80s!!" I can barely read two pages and day. I stopped at the argument over some rare Atari game.

Don't get my started on the remake of IT starting in the 80s. No loving kid was playing with paper boats in 1985.
