My old college roommate gambled away his entire tuition in less then a semester playing poker, vomited all over himself multiple times after coming in drunk, had the local cops out looking for him for God knows why, and all the while kept insisting that he was very wealthy because his dad was a TV weatherman down in Pensacola .

It was certainly a sight to see his dad on the verge of tears as he helped him carry his stuff out the room when he was kicked out after 3-4 months.

TV weathermen get paid a surprising amount, usually because they need to be actual meteorologists instead of just a good orator. It's getting the gig in the first place that's a bastard.

Why do they need to be meteorologists tho can't they just get any charismatic dolt to read off a teleprompter or wear an earpiece?

I used to work on the news, and I'm pretty sure that everyone who they just call the weather guy/gal is a charismatic dolt, because if you called our meteorologist a weather guy he would get pissed.

Well I guess maybe my brother. He did every drug at all times and crashed pretty much every vehicle he ever owned and some that he didn't. Let's see... 1 moped (drove out into the street without looking; got hit by a car, broke leg, got hooked on morphine), 2 fancy rally cars, 2 lovely SAABs, at least 1 Opel and Volkswagen I think, and fell asleep driving my mom's car while we were in it and ran into the median crash barrier, tearing a front wheel off.

Actually, he never managed to crash his little boat, or even run it aground. Instead it symbolically decided to sink on its own accord on the same day that he died, some ten years ago. Wasn't even an overdose, his organs just shut down in some guy's kitchen, while the guy was out walking his dog. Apparently his heart showed signs of three heart attacks. I don't know how you manage that, at 28.

There's also my cousin and brother''s best pal, who seven years earlier had a similar career, albeit more prison-themed (my brother spent some time too, but only for being a drug fiend), which ended by crashing a motorcycle at high speed and breaking all bones. Then right after he had miraculously made a full recovery instead of died, he went to collect some debt or something from a guy, stole a ladder and climbed into the guy's apartment but got shot by a shotgun, then shot himself dead in the head.

I can relate to the first thing. I blew through an entire 13k student loan on online poker in a little under a year. I briefly thought about taking out another one and "winning it back" but I slept on it and decided otherwise. Would have been fun, though (until I lost it).

My aunt was given 7 houses, that had tenants, from grand-dad. Over the course of a few years she runs off the good tenants and lets friends just stay in the houses. Then she began selling the houses off to pay for parties/whatever.

Now she's got nothing and is super pissed that her evil family won't give her their stuff.

my nephew, but he is really more like my little brother. his mom (my sister) died when he was like 2-3 and my mother took him in and raised him. he has grown to be quite lazy, and what you would call a "basement dwelling gamer". he is not fat thankfully, he is the skinny gollum type of gamer. he spends 99% of his time playing PS4, no joke. he used to go to highschool, but he graduated a year and a half ago and had done nothing but play PS4 ever since. he received over $100,000 from a life insurance trust from his mother death when he turned 18 (just after he graduated highschool). this has given him absolutely zero incentive to do anything buy play PS4 all day every day. I am assuming he plans to do this until the money runs out and he is several years older with nothing but a highschool diploma to his name

this is my brother almost to a tee. but honestly i always figured that was more depression/low self esteem related than the 'gently caress responsibility' attitude.

My cousin always hated kids and swore she'd never have them. Then she got old and lonely and fell in love with some dude who already has 2 kids.

So she "accidentally" got knocked up. Now she's engaged and using her new baby to push her stepchildren out of the picture while she still pays more attention to her purse dogs.

I went to college with a guy who really liked to party. Turns out he wasn't actually enrolled, he was just using the tuition money his dad gave him for parties, booze, and consumer electronics.

It worked out OK for him though, since when he got found out his dad just gave him a job at his company.

I have a cousin.

It is my understanding he couldn't graduate from high school because he refused to take his clothes off to change for gym.

He started taking security jobs, but had to stop when his weight ballooned to the extent he couldn't support himself.

He moved in with my grandparents and lived off of them for decades

At one point my dad had to completely rebuild one of the bathrooms in the house because he managed to "fall" through the wall. When my siblings and I were still quite young, a trip upstairs in my grandmother's house would inevitably result in us finding some of his hardcore pornography, which was spread all over the place.

My grandfather was an ex-navy man who fixed cars out of his garage. After my grandfather died, my cousin loaned a lot of his tools and equipment to "friends" that were never recovered. Really good, expensive stuff.

Years later when my grandmother stopped being able to take of herself (his only job was to make sure she was okay) he sat in the living room in a lay-z-boy he'd practically flattened, while she walked out of the house in the middle of the night because she was confused

He invited his friends to come "help out" around the house, which meant putting her in the car, taking her to the store, and letting them buy poo poo for them.

Wen she needed to be put in a home, (the police declared that he was not competent enough to be considered a care giver) my dad handed him money for a train ticket to get out of town, and he went on a campaign of telling everybody in the family how big on an rear end in a top hat he was, how he was turning his back on family and ripped him off.

My favorite thing is that in between Facebook posts about how he likes to eat pussy, he posts about how the government needs to stop giving money to worthless welfare queens (he totally lives 100 percent off government money now that he can't have her pension money ) and how he totally would have been in the military if it wasn't for his bum knee.

At no point has he ever seemingly looked at himself and identified himself as the source of his own problems.

Needless to say, we don't talk any more.
