https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3GKaWvwyS8 Superman used to say "Great Rao!" all the time, before DC decided he should be christian. I think Wonder Woman said something about Minerva sometimes? "By Odin's beard!" is the best one though.

Didn't Cable used to say "Stab his eyes!"? Or was that just a reference to wanting to stab a certain person's eyes? Also, we have tons of bubble tea places in Orlando, but we also have a huge Vietnamese population here, with fantastic restaurants. I usually love the tea drinks, which can range from milkshakey to fruit smoothie-esque to more traditional flavored iced tea, but I'm not a fan of the chewy boba balls, which are made of tapioca starch.

Also they always said "Oh oh!" instead of "Uh oh!" which I like for some reason.

Perry White's catchphrase was "Great Caesar's ghost!" which led to one instance of Silver Age Superdickery where Superman used super-ventriloquism to trick him into thinking a statue of Julius Caesar was talking to him and he immediately apologised to the statue for taking its name in vain all these years.

I think the episode of the television show where Perry thinks he's being haunted by Caesar came first.

What's all this about Rick Grimes being a communist now? I've not read Walking Dead in a year or so but if he's a commie I'm coming back baby.

I think people just bring that up repeatedly because, lacking a stable enough system of governance to ever back a currency, the communities in the walking dead tend to operate on loose divisions of labor and communal resources, rather than trade and wages. I would love to see a guy try to throw money around like Land of the Dead in the completely hosed wastelands of The Walking Dead.

Good week for comics (including some catchup?). Miracle Man isn’t for everyone I guess, but I like the misery porn and I want to see where King takes it. The moments between Barda and Scott are fantastic, and Scott’s line about being raised by Granny was cold as ice. Exiles has been a lot more insubstantial than I was hoping for, but bringing back Blackbeard thing? I’m all in on that. The Immortal Hulk was a lot darker than I expected from a Marvel book. I hadn’t subbed, but definitely going to now. Bloodstrike Brutalists was awesome. Fiffe is an amazing cartoonist and this was 90s as hell. And as a bonus, I didn’t realize Piskor was going to do some Youngblood stuff. I’m excited for that. Also grabbed some Young Animal books and the Black hammer mini, but I’m behind on those so haven’t read ‘em yet.

I ended my pull list today. I'll still be picking up the books until the end of the month, but after that I'm switching to digital only trades on sale and Marvel Unlimited. Mister Miracle I have to see through to the end though.

Roth posted:I ended my pull list today. I'll still be picking up the books until the end of the month, but after that I'm switching to digital only trades on sale and Marvel Unlimited. I am really wondering if I should do that. I feel obligated to buy comics and I actually like going there to buy stuff, but I have a very limited living area. Also, I have been kicking around an idea of running a Marvel Heroic Roleplaying Game set in the DC Animated Universe or "Bruce Timmverse." I was thinking of setting it during the Justice League Unlimited era and have it focus on the missions you didn't see. I thought it'd be good to setup some character sheets for the founding members of the Justice League. MHR is a weird trpg in that it kind of encourages and expects players to treat their character like a used car: that you use them for one adventure, possibly swapping between the "Acts" of the "Event." This is because MHR is cool and is written like a comic book. It's also because it has no real rules for advancement so there is no reason to keep playing the same character for too long. So, I expected people it'd be best for people to have the OG cast to be something they can just pick whenever. The thing is is that I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of the Timmverse and its been a while since I watched. But, this is in the internet and I know there are people out there who will know more and correct some mistakes. Like, I was surprised to go "wait, did Wonder Woman ever use her lasso of truth to actually make people talk" only to find out the DCAU Wonder Woman couldn't do that. If you got a second, maybe give it a look here.
