My landlord sent me a warning about lease violations because of having a messy, but not dirty, apartment because I got up their rear end about how they hadn't fixed the hole in the wall in my shower for six months

my mom had to move out of the house she was renting for 10 years because her landlord is old and his daughter or someone literally doubled her rent with a month's notice

Just moved in. The first time I took a shower the fixture came off the wall. Then the washing machine installer said our fuse box was dangerously out of compliance. The landlord was like "you had the chance to inspect the condition before signing the lease. The fuse box and shower fixture were both in full view during your visit. If the apartment was in a better condition the rent would have been higher. Also I question your electricians credentials but am not going to send my own. I am not in the business of renegotiating an agreement I have already signed. For good will I will reimburse you up to [number much lower than the quote]. If you continue to complain I will get my lawyers involved." Like seriously man, gently caress off. We already agreed to your absurd illegal security deposit and now you're going to nickel and dime us for loving everything? We're going to leave this shithole way better than we found it and we're probably never going to see that deposit.

Did I mention we're in a foreign country with a language and culture barrier? Ugh. But yeah, we have a relocation specialist who helped us get this far and she's going to talk to the lawyers at her firm and see what our options are. Part of me just wants to take his meager reimbursement and cover the difference (2-300 euros) and be done with it but let's see what the lawyers say. It's not enough to be worth a huge fight over but it is quite revealing about this rear end in a top hat. According to the lease we're responsible for all repairs that don't affect the habitalability of the apartment so I'm looking forward to some broad definitions of habitable.

Landlord still has not sent someone to fix our dishwasher and there's a hole in the ceiling of the laundry room that leaks water and is filled with asbestos that will never get fixed according to the landlord.

My landlord is actually real nice, but I live in public-ish housing so the people who are running things actually take their jobs seriously.

I mean, if he told us when he was going to make noise I could work with it, but he just slinks around avoiding us and then tears the loving building down whenever the rest of us have gone to sleep. I'm sure you all are great at parties, but this isn't acceptable behaviour past 10 years of age.

I'm sorry you're too dumb to tell the difference between that and what one can sleep through, but it really doesn't change the fact that this is unacceptable behaviour for an adult.

it was 85 degrees in my apartment over the weekend and my hairy rear end German shepherds were panting like motherfuckers so my wife texted the landlord to see if the air conditioners they have on site were going to be installed and she said "not the answer you're hoping for, but itll be another couple weeks" because the hvac people are working in new units and not finishing the occupied units. my downstairs neighbor has mold growing in her bathroom from a leak somewhere between her bathroom and mine. this is a brand new building finished in may of this year and rent is something like 50% higher than the median rent in my state

the county I live in has the highest rents in the state too. we are being fleeced because they allowed our big rear end "aggressive breed" dogs and few others would

Our bathroom is original 1970s and the shower/tub faucet leaks constantly. Like really bad, gallons a day. Landlord sent round a plumber, plumber said it's the charger (whatever that is) and because of the age and tech used, the whole thing needs to be ripped out and replaced and tiled over. Funnily enough landlord never followed up so I asked them what was next. They decided to send the plumber over again.... so we had a chat about socialism and he went on his way. Landlord never followed up. Jokes on them, they pay the water bill. It's just a loving waste. I also joined my city's Tenants Union for $50 a year. They offer counseling services to members and are sending me their handbook/guide to renting in our city. If poo poo were to ever hit the fan, they'll help me out and refer me to good lawyers etc.

Just signed a one year lease for an apartment, $1700 per month with no utilities included, and I can't sleep through the night because some sort of mechanical room below me makes it sound like someone's hitting concrete with hammers at 5:30am every morning. This unit shouldn't exist let alone be rented. The worst part is I stayed in an Airbnb in the same building and chose it because the soundproofing was the best I've ever heard in a building. Also it's my first rental in the country and I'm afraid of the repercussions of breaking my lease.
