Real talk one of my childhood friends in NC was the photographer at that goon camp and the source of many photos. He just drank to blackout, stayed silent, and documented, being smart enough to stay out of every picture. He said he saw things he wanted to forget and would never ever go anywhere goons were again for the rest of his life. He's doing great these days. Had a fabulous wedding and cute kids. But the scars still remain.
