Mr. Glass posted:2.99 at Target. Good to know. Thanks. Another Lego-noob question. Where would I likely find the Monster Fighter Haunted House? I've seen the other MF sets at Target, but would they also eventually have the HH? I know it isn't available yet, but I just wondered if I would see it at Target when it was out. Or where I may be best to try and find it. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Indolent Bastard fucked around with this message at 06:37 on Jun 17, 2012 |

Mr. Glass posted:Doesn't TRU price the minifigs at 3.99, though? I usually avoid them (unless they're having a BOGO deal) because their prices are generally higher than anywhere else. Eh, it all depends on where you are in the city. I'm up in Ross Park almost every day for work, and I have to go down that road from the mall to get home anyhow, and the Target on McKnight never, ever has any, so it's worth the difference in time and gas (I drive a Cherokee that gets at best 12MPG commuting) to just stop on the way rather than drive out of my way. And yes, TRU is a little more expensive Edit: Yeah, Google Maps says 22 minutes and 10 miles each way from home here in Perry South. With idling in traffic that's like buying and throwing away two minifigs from TRU to drive out to East Liberty. Faerunner fucked around with this message at 08:09 on Jun 17, 2012 |

One thing to watch out for when you're buying containers for your Lego is that it's really, really easy to outgrow them as your collection expands. I used to be able to keep all my technic pins in one column of those dividable boxes. Now I have so many it's grown to consume the entire box, displacing everything else (most of which also grew too large for its initial container). One set with an overabundance of weird pieces you had a small slot for or one trip to the PAB wall can really screw around with a small-container sorting system. I have this summer off (I love working for a school district) and my primary goal is to get this goddamn sort done. Ziplocs, ziplocs everywhere! Also, I'm really getting sick of TRU's Lego tax. That new Ninjago set with the 4-headed dragon? It's $140, a solid $20 more than MSRP. That's 16%, and about the best deal you're going to get on Lego at TRU is BOGO50%, which equates to a 25% discount. That's $35 off the Epic Dragon Battle, but is effectively only 12.5% off MSRP (and you still have to buy two equal-priced items for that, which can be hard to do when they cost $105 each after the deal). Strangely, the Technic Excavator is actually priced correctly, at $200. The Unimog is only $10 higher than MSRP, less than a third the markup of the Epic Dragon. I used to just buy for the hell of it when I was at TRU, but now I tend to tell myself that I can get it for MSRP at Walmart, Target, or Fred Meyer, or to just wait for my trip to the Lego Store (and their reward points are the most generous of the 5!).

Mr. Glass posted:2.99 at Target. Might depend on "your" Target though. The one near me bumps almost all sets under $70 by 20% (with the exception of Creator for some reason), yet I've seen "Hard to Find" and "Exclusive" sets there. Minifigs are $3.49, when they have them. They skipped the 1st and 2nd series, carried 3, skipped 4, and I stopped looking after that. I really can't figure it out. Oh, and impulse polybags are $5.

With the Lego Digital Designer, does anyone know any way of removing a piece from the parts selection? One of the things that keeps me from using it is the fact there are so many useless (to me) pieces, it's just cluttered.

That cuts the list significantly. Then, when your're done building you can remove the filter and go back and color the pieces in the model individually however you want.

Some Czech toy website has leaked the minifig series 8 figs. Ancient Thespis (An ancient greek of some sort? Cool!) Pirate Captain (Lamish) Conquistador (Ultra cool) Enemy Robot (Undecided) Evil Female Alien (Undecided) Diver (Very lame) Vampire (Lame) Fairy (Cool) Football Player (Lame) Trader (Possibly lame) Skier (Lame) Red Cheerleader (Uninspired) Santa Claus (Potentially good) Boy in Bavarian costume (interesting) DJ (middling) Cowgirl (Undecided) But there still aren't any images yet, so some of the more boring ones may be saved by cool moulds or accessories. The diver could be good, if they give it one of those old fashioned style diving suits with fishbowl helmet. But if its just recoloured Atlantis figs I'm going to be screaming murder. I also predict only 3 Conquistadors and Thespis per box. We'll see. Manchild King fucked around with this message at 18:21 on Jun 17, 2012 |

I think series 8 going on just the names is a little disappointing. Lego are probably also disappointed as they had managed to keep this under wraps for a long time. Text only descriptions in a foreign language is a bad way for fans to be first exposed to the new wave of figs. I remember reading somewhere that Ninjago was planned to end in 2013 but Lego still have plans to do CMFs to series 14 or something. If we are getting repeats this early what will series 14 have?

Its like they only put effort into 2 or 3 of them and fill the rest with crap. Ah well, even the bad ones usually have a decent accessory. From the last set I was really disappointed to see I got the swimmer girl, but the gold medallion made a perfect addition to Lord Vampyre so for that reason it was OK.

I have no idea what kind of minifigures people are expecting/want, but it sounds like a pretty regular line to me. Unlrelated: Helm's Deep 16% off ($20 or so) at Amazon.com. Not a huge saving but not bad this soon after release. Gravy Jones fucked around with this message at 23:12 on Jun 17, 2012 |

Target had a meh selection (vampire hearse was in display case but sold out) and I didn't feel like moving up to the $50-60 price range. I ended up getting the $20 4435 Tipper Trick truck to go with my garbage truck. Nice enough set, I don't know why the fence piece isn't built from LEGO. (City sets seem ok with having large single purpose pieces though, like on the jets.) Wish I had realized parts count included 25 gray cylinder "pieces of rubble". But certainly a respectable set.

They're in a position where most consumers assume that since they're a chain, they must be cheaper.
