What other characters would you guys like to see get the Netflix treatment? I'd love to see a take on Moon Knight, especially if they really work with the mind-bending stuff that they've started working into the character lately. Sort of a fourth wall breaking take on the Batman style of hero. I'd also really love if they did something really out there and crazy, like a horror movie take on something like Venom/Carnage.

That's a shame.

Maybe Sony will make a TV show to avoid competing with Marvel films, since they can't loving win that fight. It can be on PS+, like Powers.

LIke some stuff coming out from Image, which is in sort of a renaissance, i.e. Prophet. The good thing there is that it starts off relatively grounded. Extend it to manga, whatever, just something new and inventive. Not just plain superheroics.

He complained in one scene that people called him some word that sounded like Gwai-Lo but wasn't and that's it that's all that happened and it's going to matter even less when we eventually go to K'un L'un and it's cast like a liberal arts college brochure and we find out Danny's master was Tilda Swinton.

I have to say I feel pretty vindicated because way back in the Daredevil thread I commented that the Hand portions of season 2 were the worst parts and worried that they would be the villain of Iron Fist as well where they would suck there too. Bunch of goons jumped on me about how the Hand isn't an Iron Fist foe in the comics so why would they be in the show? Well to my complete non-surprise they do end up being the villains and blow just as much in this show as they did in DD. Suck it nerds. As for the guy who plays Danny, my biggest complaint is that he looks baby-poo poo soft, like Michael Keaton in 1989 Batman soft when I would think a kung fu master would be like 90% sinew. They need to track down the personal trainer for Arrow to prepare for any future shows with Danny in them.

After finishing Iron Fist all I can think of is how much I'm looking forward to The Punisher and the inevitable scene where someone gives him the "if you kill this psychotic murderer you're just as bad as he is" speech and he just promptly ignores them. I can buy it with Daredevil because he's very religious but this trope is really getting old and feels incredibly out of place with how bloody and "mature" they try to make all the Marvel Netflix shows.

The No Killing rule is especially odd given that Daredevil's first season handled it well. He won't actively try to murder people, but he's also not going to cry himself to sleep because some shitbag took a header down some stairs. Then Season 2, with new showrunners, suddenly he's pleading with Castle like he's goddamn superman. Murdock should have a problem that The Punisher is shooting up his neighborhood and mass murdering folks left and right, but that was tonally off from the get go.

Agreed. "You can't kill, it'll darken your soul" is becoming my least favorite superhero trope. I guess K'un Lun has a ninja jail, because apparently their chi-dependent magical soldier couldn't do his job if he murdered some guys. And just think about how tight security would need to be at Ninja Jail; it must be an exorbitant cost for the K'un Lun city government.Kung Food posted:The purple man in Jessica Jones came pretty close. I really really hope the Punisher series takes The Slavers arc as it's first season as it's an absolutely perfect intro to the character, what he does, why he's incredibly hosed up and why what he does doesn't really solve anything in the long run. Sure he destroys that slaving ring and sends a message, but like he says in the comic, he can't stop all of it. It is still gonna exist, the thing that stops deep seeded evil like that isn't some dude with a gun taking people out, it's people working in the system to destroy the supply and demand for it and save the victims. The Punisher is deeply hosed up solution to incredibly complex issues and he's not even a true solution half the time.

If Scott Buck now just asked RZA direct entire season 2 and do Immortal Iron Fist arcs for cheesy kung-fu action featuring Fat Cobra.

Episode 2: Moon Knight mails Frenchie a Christmas card containing a $5 bill and a sandwich bag of AAA batteries. I think a cool show would be to focus on the villains, and get a little goofy with it, like The Superior Foes of Spider-Man was. Or some kind of rotating cast of the street-level heroes vs. street level villains. One week the Shroud tries to stop Stilt-Man from hoisting precious artifacts from museums, another week Shang Chi and Tarantula have to foil Slyde and the Spot's plan to hold the Mayorial candidates for ransom. I mean, all the Marvel shows are 'street level', but at least if it popped around to different guys, you wouldn't have to ask 'why did this have to go on for 13 episodes?' Plus, I still want to see Taskmaster show up in some Marvel tv/movie media. E: For Venom, are they talking Eddie Brock Venom, or the more recent Agent Venom version.

So on all the talk we've had on Finn's lovely physique and fighting ability. Looks like the poor bastard never had a chance on that front."Entertainment Weekly interview from the week shooting began posted:“Every day for the last month, I start my day with about two and a half hours of martial arts — which is kung fu and wushu mixed with a bit of tai chi, and other stuff as well,” Jones dished. “In the afternoon I’ll do weight training with a trainer to bulk me up and get me physically right for the part. And in evenings I’ve been doing meditation classes and learning Buddhist philosophies.” "Telagraph interview from last Friday posted:“Well, here’s the situation,” he begins, explaining that he only had three weeks to train before filming. “Unfortunately, with the filming schedule, I wasn’t given as much time as I would have liked to continue the training.” Shooting for 12 or 14 hours a day took its toll. “I was learning those fight scenes just 15 minutes before we shot them, because that was the schedule... It would be 2am, 3am, I’d just done a long day of work, and usually the stunt department would come up and say ‘Hey, right, we’ve got this huge 30 person fight and you’ve got to learn it right now.’ So I was learning it on the spot, within 15-20 minutes, and then shooting it. That was the reality for six months.” So he got 3 weeks of martial arts and weight training before shooting began. Not even a truckload of steroids and the Matrix is going to get you to a good enough place in a loving month. Then they top it off by giving him 15 minutes to learn and perform the fights/choreography. Also during shooting his martial arts and weight training regime goes out the window because of the hours. Really hope that the people running The Defenders aren't as loving stupid as the people who ran Iron Fist. homeless snail posted:The last shot of this thing is among the most poorly executed shots I've ever seen on TV, and somehow weirdly literal?? It was really nice of him to pointlessly take off his right glove as he realized K'un-Lun was gone so he could stare at it glowing. Then again what do you expect from a show where virtually any time Danny activates the Iron Fist and isn't throwing a punch it punctuates nothing, means nothing, and is at best stupid and awkward. NecroMonster posted:haha they kept him white and then they didn't do anything at all with the status as an outsider that would give him in magical asian kunlun, because they didn't do anything with kunlun at all It really is hilarious because there's a handful of things you could look at/emphasize that give a reason for a white dude in the role(other than Danny is a white guy in the comics). It sounds like honestly that production on Iron Fist got way behind schedule and Marvel had to rush it out the door in order to get it out before The Defenders. They hired Scott Buck because he knew how to do that. Like even the casting of Danny was really delayed and they had their Luke Cage when Jessica Jones came out. The worst thing is that they've decided to let Scott Buck be the showrunner for Inhumans, which is great because i get to see 2 things ruined by him now.
