Part Chimp owns; so does Kowloon Walled City

my brother spotted a car with a SLEEEEP license plate and "Matt Pike for President" bumper sticker the other day; is that someone in here?

If it was a Virginia license plate, I think it's the guitar player of Lair. https://lairdoom.bandcamp.com/releases

Used to see the SLEEEEP mobile around more, last time was en route to Sabbath. There's a black Mustang or something with a SABBATH tag parked outside shows in DC too.

Someone posted the band Secret Cutter the other day in a S/D/S Metal facebook group the other day and I loving loved it. Sludge metal has only recently really been clicking for me, so I'm not super familiar with the genre outside of the obvious bands like Eyehategod, Neurosis, Melvins, etc. What are some other groups that I should be checking out, preferably acts that are still playing shows?

Seconding this. Florida produces a lot of sludge bands and that's probably 75% Cavity's fault.

Yeah, Harvey Milk rule and their last album is bleak, even by genre standards.

Also, everyone should check out their guide to their own discography, because it's hilarious.

Ok, these things work pretty well. They’re not as good as foamies but drat close and a surprisingly flat sound profile. The moldable bit that seals your outer ear hardens fairly rigid, so I can see them getting tiring if you pack them in too tight during the fitting process. I wore them for about 4 hours straight and have a little ear fatigue but not bad. No tinnitus beyond my background levels plus 4 beers.

loving Wovenhand.

They are extremely weird. David does not interact with the crowd at all except to occasionally say something in Hebrew or Lakota or Aramaic. My wife said he seems like the son of a Pentecostal minister who spent a lot of time in the desert doing peyote. I think his father was a Seventh Day Adventist minister, actually. Anyhow they are heavy as gently caress now. The drummer is a drat metronome. He makes pockets like JP Gaster, maybe even deeper.

The aforementioned Devil and the Almighty Blues.

Also, King Hobo is bitchin. Drummer is JP Gaster from Clutch.

Some of the newer Clutch is real bluesy. They do straight up blues covers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAnDTkT3pDc

And bluesy originals.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4ABpbxIPFI

The last three albums in their entirety are much more in that direction, interspersed with some harder rockin stuff.

All systems nominal.
Technically, Electric Worry is a mishmash of a cover and original. But they certainly made it their own.

Gone Cold is my favourite of the Bluesy Clutch stuff:
