They absolutely hated the traveling tent thing and ditched it last season. I can't imagine them going back to it.

Jeremy wasn't happy with how long his commute was last season (several yards at least), so now they're filming in his living room.

News on season 4: no tent, just road trips. https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2018/dec/13/amazon-renews-grand-tour-show-for-series-of-prime-video-specials Also individual shows for the three of them. Looking forward to that, James' solo efforts have all been very good.

I'll miss conversation street as I generally enjoy the segments where they're just chatting about car news and car idiocy.

I never understood why they couldn't just sit in someones backyard, the pub, an airport lounge, the fucken local garbage dump and talk poo poo about cars. The whole tent was the dumbest waste of time and money; anything being filmed attracts a crowd of ugly cunts gawking in a circle.

The moving tent was a waste and irrelevant in the first series anyway, not much of a grand tour if each location is pretty much ignored other than a nice backdrop and some stereotypical jokes. I don't think I will miss the tent at all, conversation street was good but otherwise it was pretty forgettable. If they are going to focus on bigger "more special" films they could even make it into an actual grand tour where they have to get their vehicles from country to country.

I could live a thousand years and I'll never understand why they didn't at least match films to the tent's location.

My Lovely Horse posted:I could live a thousand years and I'll never understand why they didn't at least match films to the tent's location. Logistics I'd imagine, get into a country to do x thing with x cars is complicated enough. You then have to do it a dozen times in the space of x months for filming. Adding getting a mobile studio over there to film bits just adds so much more time to each part. Film all the bits rapid fire in several months then spend a month or so driving up and down with one setup to do the studio bits. I agree it would've been cooler though done that way.

I always figured they had so much footage from the location shoots that cut cut down to these relatively small segments, I'm fine just showing us more of that and getting rid of all the forgettable stuff. If I want to see interviews with mediocre celebrities I can tune into the last 15 minutes of any late night talk show every night of the week. Car news is nice but I read car blogs almost daily so it always came months late, and nothing ages on streaming services like news.

While it is sometimes interesting to hear their thoughts on what is happening, any car news they do is instantly dated what with how fast news goes these days.

It sucks that season 3 starts in January because I've always enjoyed the Christmas junk that they manage to find in the December episodes. No conversation street is also a bummer cause they're usually the sillest parts but feel most natural.

What I think would be really cool would be for Conversation Street to be spun off in to a podcast or live internet show thing, Once a week the three of them get together and bullshit about the week's car news and/or whatever else is on their mind for however long they felt like going on. They could do it via Facetime or Hangouts or whatever and not have to leave their own living rooms, or if they happened to be together for whatever reason do it from a pub or something. I doubt they'd actually be interested in doing such a thing though, especially not Clarkson. Maybe James, he seemed to have fun with his "unemployment tube". I totally get why the news doesn't fit in the Amazon program and that it was pretty much only there in the BBC show because of the categories the show was supposed to fill, but I still like hearing those three bullshitting about whatever silliness is going on in the automotive world.

I think the tough part is that they've tried to recreate what they were good at (Top Gear) in the confines of whatever agreement they had with BBC over not re-creating Top Gear. Add me to the list that's hoping that conversation street lives on somehow.

A mini-trip/special, conversation street in the studio, a supercar review, and no celebrity segment. After 20 however-many seasons, they've finally made the perfect episode. Too bad it's in their last season.
