Joel McHale at the VGX awards is nothing to bat an eye at compared to Jamie Kennedy. I'd rather see Plinkett videos about the Matrix series, to be honest. Honestly Force Awakens has already been dissected so much that I'd rather have a Plinkett review of something else at this point. I'll probably still enjoy it though.

I want to say "probably not", but then again Lowe's signature work is the Leisure Suit Larry series, which is kind of an inherently misogynistic set of games based on their portrayal of women. Lowe's Twitter feed is also a stream of nothing but innocuous yet highly sexist dad jokes, so make of it what you will. He's not an actively offensive person, but there's enough there that it's easy to see why Jordan "I like my ladies like I like my fish, behind a shatterproof glass pane" Owen would seek him out first as his proof of concept subject.

I'd like to quickly remind everyone that one of the first excuse-criticisms to be thrown at Anita Sarkeesian (you know, before she had actually made any videos) by the anti-feminist crowd was that she was supposedly ripping everyone off and her price point was way too high and that nobody knew where all that money would actually be going and the whole thing was just a con to make money by demonizing our poor video games. Yep.

That's an important detail.

Also, Protip: don't read Jordan Owen's Twitter account unless you really want to see page after page of notifications of all strippers, porn actresses, and probably just outright porn spam bots that Jordan has decided to follow because no he doesn't have unhealthy ideas about women and relationships, where would you get that impression from?

On some level you do gotta feel bad for Owen, though. Aurini clearly falls into the opportunistic-right-wing-shitbag camp, but Owen is more the no-hoper type who's afraid that the one thing that makes his life worth living is going to be taken away. That doesn't justify anything he does, but Owen is lovely because of a hurting deep inside him, where Aurini is lovely because of a blackness in his soul.

While I think you meant "diluted," your version isn't too far off, either... It's a sad case where a bunch of people stumbled into social justice discourse and decided "Hey, here's a great way I can win arguments and be immune to criticism!" so you've got a chunk of people still using terms as they were originally intended, and then a bunch of shitheads who think "triggered" means "ticked off." And guess which set the antis have decided are representative?

He sort of looks like a crazy homeless person so can we hope it's mostly an act/gimmick? I've never gotten the outrage over hoopy earring lady though. She is kind of full of it, but well meaning and not entirely wrong at her core. Seems stupid to get worked up over. Konami and EA have done far more damage to gaming than Anita could do if she managed to wrangle every single college Tumblr lady to work alongside her and was even remotely as evil as these wackadoos think she is. Oh well. poo poo, in some ways the online YouTube reviewer community have damaged gaming more than someone bringing up some valid points that at least need acknowledging since have you seen what Turbografx games go for now? And, it was an open secret that publishers were (at least implicitly) buying review scores and chumming it up with so-called journos, so there was already massive distrust of "games journalism" in the core gamer community, but one centred on an idea that "games journalism" ought to be a sacred thing free of outside influence. Where more reasoned people would just disregard the idea of review scores as absolute, the core gamers were bent on fixing the system; add to this the weapons-grade sexism or at least distrust of women among the core gamer community, add a scandal alleging that a woman was using sex to get good reviews for her game, and the fear that, due to the influence of game critics, that good reviews for games like hers might mean that dudebros are no longer the be-all-and-end-all demographic, and FWOOM goes the gasoline.
