Beshear still up ~26k with 86% reporting, I hope this holds. I want to say I did my part in Campbell County.

I'm on mobile so I can't post a picture, but... Democrats are currently ahead in 52 out of 100 House of Delegates districts. We might actually do this.

Yancey got demolished, holy lol Fingers crossed on Lee, he was probably in the toughest race for incumbent Dems. Danica Roem meanwhile is doing solid. Great to see her constituents come out in support of her.

But it's not a sure thing. We're up to 53 Dems leading now! Hoping the trend continues e: a for our boy Lee, if his race didn't flip then I doubt any of the others will

Assuming Beshear maintains his narrow lead and the VA legislature stays leaning dem, pretty good overall. I doubt MS will go Dem but that'd be the sign of a BIG night, and we still need to wait a bit to see if Louisiana keeps Edwards in.

You guys I can't even really wrap my head around what having actual Democratic control of my state would look like. For literally my entire life Republicans have controlled at least one of the three main institutions of power in Virginia, and even as we've started to elect Democrats statewide they've maintained a stranglehold on the General Assembly and the House of Delegates in particular. There's so much stuff that could be done if we could do actual legislation.

Why is/was Bevin so unpopular? The other Kentucky statewide offices are still going red so so Bevin must have really screwed up somehow. Someone needs to do a nationwide campaign to eradicate the idea in our nation's voting populace that split ticket voting is a great idea.

Dems officially at 20 VA Senate seats (and leading in two more). Not from VA but I assume this means control with the Lt Gov casting the tiebreaker?

This is a good night. VA is basically the same electoral profile as NJ at this point. The KY gov race is very nice to win as Bevin is a vile piece of poo poo however the rest of the GOP statewide ticket is winning so IDK how much can be read into that. It's too bad that the D Senate candidate in KY is so horrid.

JosefStalinator posted:Dems officially at 20 VA Senate seats (and leading in two more). Pretty much, yeah. I think this is the first time in at least a decade there is a full democratic majority across all 3 parts of the government. Here's hoping they don't gently caress it up by trying to grift instead of fixing the myriad issues that VAPOL has.
