It gets said a lot, but I'll say it again, the art in this comic is fantastic.Mazerunner posted:What if the Avatar Fairy doesn't exist, except by our collective belief in it? That would be the most appropriate thing. I'm really hoping the whole collective belief retconning the universe thing turns out to be the case. Although Jones said it was a thought experiment though so I'm wondering if she has an alternate hypothesis.

I prefer to think that the Avatar Fairy lives in all of our hearts. You just have to open it up and let it out. Not with obsidian knives, though. That line of experimentation turned out to be a lot of mess for nothing.

Gunnerkrigg re-read revelation station. Jimmy Jims wanted Jones to be in the school photo, but Surma despises her. This may have to do with the fact that Jones looks and acts like a grown woman, never mind the reality of her nature. I'm surprised the other kids didn't feel weirder about it.

Belief shapes things and creatures out of the etherium through the afterlife-processing-plant system, but that may not be the only source of extranormal.

In Zimmy's case, it seems as if she has an exaggerated version of the human effect on the ether. Her beliefs, feelings, and fears give rise to alternate realities which can impinge directly on this one.

I guess that old line about the Court being "Man's endeavor to become God" has taken on a more literal shade of meaning. Cool. I wonder if this story won't ultimately end with the loss of/separation from the ether. That could get Kat out of whatever dark territory she may or may not be headed into, and solve Annie's "dying from children" issue. Potentially, at least. On the other hand, Mort Haledjian fucked around with this message at 15:57 on Dec 3, 2012 |

Haledjian posted:I guess that old line about the Court being "Man's endeavor to become God" has taken on a more literal shade of meaning. Cool. Technically, Annie would die if the world was seperated from the ether, as the fire elemental "seed" inside her keeps her alive, hence why when she has a child she will slowly die as the elemental seed is passed on.

That would a) probably utterly destroy humanity as we know it and replace it with something entirely different b) might destroy the universe entirely, since all of the entities created by it have a fair amount of very real power and would probably object to being cut off from realty.

It would probably do whatever works best thematically, because it's magic and can do whatever the author decides.

A third party which deemed it appropriate to use the oddest packaging method I've seen for a book so far: It's like they sealed it inside a piece of cardboard. It was mostly weird due to the size and because it didn't want to fold along the edges. Do we have a good idea of when volume 4 will come out? Like in the past has there been a decent delay after the comics were up on the site, or should we be basically expecting it a few months after we get between 260~300 more pages from the end of volume 3? Actually I guess that puts us at the end of this arc or maybe the next one if it sticks with the pattern.
