*Nominate a candidate who's seen as an untrustworthy Washington insider in a campaign season of populist resentment*
*Also she's under FBI investigation*
*Also she's been demonized for like 30 years*
*Somehow campaign on the idea that she's super awesome*
*Deliberately hide economic platform*
*Siphon money away from downballot and local races*
*Campaign against the other candidate even though he thrives on the idea that people like her hate him*
*Open offices in Georga and Texas*
*Deliberately ignore rust belt states that need to be won and are vulnerable*
*Put more money into ads in California than ads in Ohio*
*Lose*

Yes, this. Trying to win over Trump voters is Clinton / Schumer centrist neoliberal idiocy.

You need to motivate the people who voted 3rd party or didn't vote. You need to excite all the young people that were grossed out by the Clinton/Trump choice.

lol Oprah, get out of here.

I miss the days when every election wasn't apocalyptic, where you wanted a certain candidate to win, but if they didn't, you shrugged, got a little annoyed at the president once in a while, and then went back in two years.

I know you're being funny, but yes.

These same people feel like there's two sets of rules, those for elites and those for everyone else. Locking up an untouchable elite is a sign that corruption won't be tolerated and that everyone will be applicable.

You can interpret this however you want, but that doesn't change the fact I've heard this reasoning from dozens of people, including ones who wanted a higher minimum wage and to stop foreign wars and police actions.

It has more to do with the fact that unhealthy food is cheaper, and the working poor have little time for exercise when they are holding down several jobs at once.

Also costly, gym memberships are a reoccurring fee many people can't handle, equipment requires a lump sum that can't exist, and trying to jog poor rural areas occasional ends in getting chased by wild dogs (personal experience on the last one)

Thinking things like certain foods are "unhealthy" instead of first thinking about portion sizes is the heart of the issue. Smaller portions of the same food are cheaper.

Exercise doesn't matter when it comes to not being fat.

Also: fast food comes prepared already and is cheap, both of which are huge factors in why it is eaten by the working poor who have little money and no free time.

Obesity is a natural consequence of capitalism's relentless drive to achieve maximum efficiency and profit while not caring about the health of the exploited class. The fact that it is still framed as a moral failing is icing on the cake and serves to keep a significant portion of the population feeling demoralized and devalued.
