Oh! I figured it out! This is still the Stephen chapter, guys. Johnny got Forge. Stephen is going to get this little kitty and become a living lie detector and unearth Mayview's mysteries. The twue despair is the Activity Club realizing they won't be able to keep it under wraps for much longer. edit: And it probably doesn't even work properly as a lie detector either, and just turns lies into twisted truths, which stays in character with this chapter and Stephen in general.
