I won't be sad if Will Smith never makes another movie, but tbh Tom Cruise has been making some great stuff for a decade. Oblivion Edge of Tomorrow American Made Mission Impossible 3+ These are all legit great movies and I'll be sad if gets restricted down to just the MI franchise alone as that seems to be his only sure-fire box-office successes. Yes I even enjoyed Jack Reacher although the Mummy was rubbish. I have a feeling Top Gun is going to be a critical and financial disaster too.

Cruise has had a very solid decade, BUT his standards were so ridiculously high there that I think you have to say he's come back to Earth a little bit. American Made, Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, The Mummy and Jack Reacher all fall into the same category where they did make a profit but either a very small one or just not enough to be considered a legit hit. And it's not like Mission Impossible has typically been bringing in billions ala the MCU or Star Wars. They make good money but take away the three M:I films he did this decade and yea his career prospects would look a lot different.

Cruise is such a weirdo, but he seems to be the closest thing we have right now to an actual movie star who can work in nearly every genre. As long as it's a good action movie, Top Gun 2 is going to make so much money. McQuarrie and Cruise don't appear able to make a bad movie together. Please note, I also told someone that the Lone Ranger would be a big hit.

Basebf555 posted:Jumanji 3 did fine, somewhere around 600 million, but similar to Hobbs & Shaw, it was just fine. Nothing more nothing less. Whereas the first Jumanji sequel he did made a billion dollars. Right but that's a sequel to a solid movie so you can't count those as much. I feel like the Rock has a base level he brings you even in a bad movie which is pretty good and if it does review well then even better.

I think the Rock knows he's on a downward slide. Every top earning actor goes through this. Arnold jumped ship to politics before it got too bad. Of course then he came back and slid all the way down. What I'm saying is get ready for Governor Johnson.

The thing that guys like Cruise and Arnold had that The Rock doesn't is those iconic roles that they could return to when they needed a career boost. Arnold did it twice with just the Terminator franchise alone, and he's still got one left in the bag with Predator if he ever decides he wants to try for another big hit movie. If he were to do a True Lies sequel it would probably be the most anticipated action movie of the year. Cruise has Mission Impossible and how he's finally gonna try for the Top Gun sequel, which has a lot of people excited. I can't really think of any particular role that The Rock can come back to in say, 10 years, aside from maybe the F&F stuff but that's such a complicated situation with Vin and the rest of the cast, I don't see it ever happening.

I know they sort of tried to address this in Dark Fate, but it sucks that there really shouldn't be an explanation as to why Arnold's T-800 model gets older. And given how the T-1000 worked, there's no way in hell we'd ever get Robert Patrick into the role again. De-aging can only do so much, that'd be impossible. T2 had the ultimate enemy, and that enemy lost. Game over, series over, everyone go home.

The plot of MI: Rogue Nation in a nutshell: Ethan is captured by an independent SPECTRE-like group of mercenaries run by the main villain, Solomon Lane. A British agent working undercover with the group helps Ethan escape, but it later turns out that the reason the Brits were going after Lane is that he is one of their own. A very high ranking guy in British intelligence set up Lane with funding as a super secret black ops group that would be run completely off the book, and it was even hidden from the current Prime Minister. The key macguffin is a thumb drive with the account information to unlock billions more in funding that would allow Lane to go completely rogue for years to come, answering to nobody and doing god knows how many horrible things around the world(such as setting off a nuke and contaminating half the worlds water supply in M:I Fallout).

I do think 4 and 6 are the best of the bunch. 5 is kinda required for 6 though, it's the only one that's really a direct sequel.

When I first saw the trailer I assumed it was nanomachines son but then afterwards I thought "actually it would be cooler if it was just two terminators stuck together" and I'm curious to know which it is but not curious enough that I'm going to watch the film Basically yes. There are more hollow voids in the endoskeleton so you can cram enough T1000 in there to be able to operate autonomously (presumably with it's own hollow space once they split apart).

Oh man, you weren't kidding there. It's a drat good black-comedy/horror, and I love that it never winks or smirks. It's completely absurd and ridiculous, but completely straight-faced throughout all of it. It's kind of like Get Out - rich people are horrible monsters, but are too dumb and vain to really see it. But without the racial stuff that elevates Get Out to more than fun schlock. The ending reminds me a bit of Eli, in that I can't believe that everybody went along with it and none of the producers/actors put their hand up to say "hang on, isn't this mental?". And I'm very glad they didn't.
